The Court of Spring is the current ruling body of the land of Fey, as much as anyone can be said to truly rule over as strange and wild of a people as those who dwell within the realm's borders. Led by the The Spring Queen, the court came to power some 80 years ago following a sudden shift in the realm's Season, though their ascension to leadership was not without it's controversies amongst the people of Fey, The Court of Autumn especially. Prior to the seasons' ascendance it had been generations since Spring had come to the lands of Fey and the Queen herself had long ago been driven into apparent hiding by agents of The Court of Autumn, leaving many of the members of the Court of Spring to take refuge in the lands of their longtime allies, The Court of Summer, or disappear deep into the wilds.
While most were initially relieved at the Queen's sudden reappearance after the Season's equally sudden turn, many found their relief turned quickly to disappointment in their new ruler. The return of Spring and her retinue did bring with it a newfound abundance in the heartlands of the Fey as the blessings of spring returned to the lands, but the people quickly found that the new Court held seemingly little interest in actually leading the realm over which they now presided, leaving the people to largely figure things out themselves despite the inevitable upheaval that comes with a change of the Seasons. This coupled with the never-ending tensions with the diminished but still powerful Courts of Autumn and Winter who, some would say justifiably, feel cheated out of their position of power has lead to no small amount of dissatisfaction with the current leadership of Fey; Though few would ever speak of taking any sort of action against the court as the Season of the realm is considered sacrosanct amongst its inhabitants.
Strangely amongst all of this dissatisfaction with her Court's leadership, the Spring Queen herself is somewhat of a beloved figure amongst the people of Fey who, despite her general absence from public life, is famed amongst her people for her bottomless kindness and care for those who do encounter her during her sporadic and unannounced wanderings from the castle. Not to mention the delight which many take in the intrigue and scandal she has brought to the Court, nearly all of which involve her mysterious family affairs. Chief amongst these mysteries is the origin's of her two sons, Talon Coldwind her eldest, adopted child and Derrek Firstspring, her younger birth child, both of whom turned up with little announcement or explanation some twenty years ago and have fascinated the Court's rumor-mongers ever since.
This intrigue only heightened when about 6 years ago, Prince Derrek was found guilty of trading state secrets to the Court of Autumn and rather publicly vanished from the realm without a trace, despite all efforts to stop and later follow him. Following her son's disappearance, the Queen has retreated even further from society leaving Prince Talon to effectively rule the kingdoms of Fey in all but name.
