Stellan Akros

Jedi Master

“It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop."

Background

Stellan Akros was born under the old Republic in 39 BBY. He was identified as Force sensitive when he was 4 years old and was brought to Jedi Order, training as a youngling and preparing to be selected as a Padawan. But his disposition was unsuited to be a Jedi of the Old Order. He was constantly reading and thinking, head lost in the clouds as he contemplated the Force. Stellan was never selected as a Padawan, instead being routed to the Educorps, a section of the Jedi Service Corps. He flourished in the Educorps, able to research and theorize to his heart’s content. Stellan eventually became an archivist on a small Jedi outpost in the Outer Rim. He was the only permanent staff member, Jedi rarely coming through and using the outpost as a stopping point. It was this far flung location that saved his life during the Jedi Purge. Stellan was able to receive the warning broadcast from the Jedi Temple and escape the Empire’s grasp, fleeing into hiding.

Stellan chose Ambria as his hiding spot. The planet was strong in the Force, and he chose a spot near a dark side vergence to hide his presence. For years, he hid and survived. The time on such a Force heavy planet, resisting the urges of the dark side, strengthened his own connection to the Force. As the Empire solidified its power and became convinced that there were no more surviving Jedi, Stellan was able to sometimes venture out to other worlds, gathering information. It was on one such trip that he heard the news: The Empire had fallen, the Rebellion was victorious. Stellan no longer had to live in hiding, but it wasn’t until years later when the news of Luke Skywalker trying to reform the Jedi Order came to him that he had a new objective.

Stellan collected the small amount of the Jedi archives that he’d smuggled with him into hiding and went to meet Luke Skywalker. He had no expectations beyond being able to give some guidance and information, so he was surprised when Luke invited him to join the new Jedi Order. He explained that he wasn’t a Jedi, having failed the Padawan trials as a child, but Luke didn’t care. His Jedi Order was different from the old one, and he would welcome anyone who wanted to help and had a connection to the Force.

At last, Stellan had become a Jedi in full. He served as a Knight and has recently ascended to the rank of Master. After cleansing a bled Kyber crystal, he came to wonder if the same process could be applied to a larger scale, with a group of Jedi working together to cleanse the presence of the dark side.  This line of thought led to the establishment of the Ambria temple, a small satellite temple focused on hopefully cleansing the planet and exploring the cosmic Force.

Appearence

Stellan is a human man in his early 60s. He has white hair and beard, and is generally a bit rugged in his appearance. He’ll stroke his beard as he thinks. He has no surviving family, but he considers those at the Ambria temple more akin to children and siblings than fellow Jedi.

Personality

Stellan is a generally introspective man, often lost in thought as he contemplates the mysteries and wonders of the Force or a new philosophy. When he does interact with people, he’s generally friendly, very slow to anger, though he’ll get disappointed by people who have little respect for meditation and exploring the Force. His personal philosophy is that Jedi and Force Sensitives should focus their efforts on interacting with the Force and listening to its guidance rather than trying to solve the galaxy’s problems.

Skillset & Role

Stellan is the supervising Master of the Ambria Temple. He is focused on the more intellectual pursuits of being a Jedi. He is strong in knowledge skills, especially Lore and Education. He should play more of a support and teaching role, and very rarely engages in combat directly. When he does engage in combat, he’s more likely to use the Force as his weapon rather than his lightsaber. His years of hiding have left him with the habit of lying his way out of bad situations and attempting to avoid attention by hiding in plain sight as just another random person.
