One of the Fey territories formerly under King Aseron, once controlled by Geyesh and his relations, before it was given to Syltorin Margaster by Aseron. Duchy Quest 2: Satyr Boogaloo took place here, and it was visited for the first time on this quest.
The former Duke Geyesh was beheaded after his failed assassination of King Aseron. Following that, multiple replacement Dukes tried to rule here, but were thwarted and chased away. The population includes Satyrs, Minotaurs, Sprites, and other Fey.
The Duchy of the Pines is located south of Avilion, behind the Everfog Mountains, on the sea coast.
The land is mountainous, and covered in the namesake pine trees, tall and straight. The breeze carries the sea-salt, the crying of seagulls, and the faintest sound of waves. Giant hills of sand, with pockets of forest here and there, hug the ocean. Little villas and moderately-sized houses connected to farm lands pepper the surroundings of Hygon, the capitol of this Duchy.
A place of note is a huge, grey boulder, some hundred feet tall and wide, covering up what looks like a cave, known by the people of the Pines as the Abyss. Local legends postulate that it reaches the heart of the Everfog Mountains, and then some. It is sealed because of monsters.
A lot of Satyrs live here.
