Hygon is the capitol of the Pines, one of the Fey Duchies formerly under King Aseron, and now under Syltorin Margaster. It was first visited during the quest Duchy Quest 2: Satyr Boogaloo.
Partially located on the slopes of the Everfog Mountains, this is a city of glimmering lights and various square buildings. The city is surrounded by villas, farmhouses, and fields, with an occasional vinyard. 'The Royal Fog' as an inn within the city, presumably run by Inconnu.
Satyrs live here, together with Minotaurs, various Fey, Sprites, Nymphs, and an odd member of a mortal ancestry. People of note include the innkeeper Inconnu, Hrood the Minotaur Bodyguard, Bertuas, Lord Resias, Alan, Lord Ginyesh, Guard Captain Tragganor, and Magistrate Maja. Following the developments of Duchy Quest 2, Lady Merehiki Songheart also lives here. Formerly, the list also included Bulae, the ex-mayor of Hygon who was exiled by Syltorin; Ulaton, who fled the city with a fleet of ships; Freygeys, who was assassinated, and Archrdeon, who was the one to commit this murder-suicide.
The Duke's Manor
The mansion of the Duke is the biggest building in Hygon, and also the furthest up, carved partially into the Everfog Mountains and even reaching their mists. It looks like a squat castle built entirely for defense, and then someone else built a mansion on top of this castle, because it was too strong to tear down. A winding path through the city leads directly up to the mansion - cobblestone streets alleyways.
Through the entrance room, and the coat room, is the tall and wide feasting hall. It's gorgeous, filled with grey stone and dark wood furnishings and rich tapestries.
The main study and library are a magnificent room. A single massive chair is in front of a cold, dark fireplace. Behind it, there are various other chairs of great comfort, a grand table and a bar. The walls are lined with sconces, oddities and wood-carved statues of animals, beasts and monsters. One of them is a head of a Minotaur. Geyesh used to do most of his after-dinner meetings and public meetings here, according to Maja. A massive portrait of (presumably) Geyesh hangs here, but instead of his eyes, there are dark holes. The library, according to Lord Ginyesh, contains various ancient histories of this place and of the Fey Kingdom.
The Duke's Suite is attached to a private study; the view from Hygon Manor is breathtaking. The master quarters are near the top of the castle, overseeing all. Inlaid into one of the bookshelves, there is bright emerald, and pressing it shifts the hidden gears and reveals a chest.
There are also a drawing room; a living room; a smaller, fancier fine dining room. Massive staircases connect the floors; the numerous hallways are lush wood and stone.
The manor uses to belong to Geyesh, and after his death, it was used by his son Freygeys and his friends for their debauched parties, treated as a pig sty. Now, it is used by Syltorin Margaster as his headquarters in Hygon and the Pines, and Lady Merehiki Songheart serves as the keeper of the estate.
