Verse is a firekeeper encountered in the strange Grey World, accessed from the Millennium Forest during the quest Duchy Get Quest (Part 1).
She is wearing a red-and-green hood and overcoat. Underneath, she wears brown leathers, accented by gold, straps and buttons. A lock of straw-blonde hair sinks past her face. From a glance, she looks like an adventurer of some kind, or a traveler.
She is reading a book, and occasionally stabbing her fire with a stick, causing it to burst into chromatic sparks. When she speaks, she doesn't look up from her book.
Verse has a pet - a purple crow, with a silver eye.
According to her, she is a hero of a place that is dead, and in some lands and times, she might have been considered a demi-god, though with no followers or religion. She claims to have "read that she is very powerful, and so it is true“, but she also said that she tells lies, that she could be anyone, like one of the Gods or Demons. Her appearance isn't her true form, and she she warned that she looking out only for herself and her quest, without a care for the fate of the visitors who seek her knowledge.
Verse revealed that Xylandras died long ago and was lost, before thanking Syltorin Margaster, Dolen Harven, Sirxus, Meinzer and Merehiki Songheart for returning her to the Grey World; they were allowed to collect her belongings, since she had no need for them anymore.
Verse said that she cannot say what the Grey World is, and even if she did, it would be another lie (curiously, Syltorin couldn't detect any falsehoods in her words, and felt like she simply refused to tell them about this dimension; she confirmed this, and offered to cobble together a lie that they would like). Only those who travel with her will learn what that place means, but it is a journey without a promise of return.
She onfe searched for secrets and stories, and in that search she found wonder and the power of creation; through the latter, she could adventure forever.
