Delivery to Imbiq and Rensh of Desconhecido

Our most recent task had us delivering a message to the Watcher Exiles' Village, but since we were already out and about, we saw no reason not to handle another delivery—this time to the Prospector’s Tribe. Our company consisted of Pita, Injera, Ielah Yelah, Dez, Maimasu, and, of course, myself, Cornelius Wintercrest.

With our mounts, we made good time across the landscape, though a storm slowed us briefly. Pressing on, we entered the desert and came upon the ruin known as the Grave of the Sky. Reports on the site were scarce—an opportunity, in my mind, to uncover something of value. And wouldn't you know it, before long, we unearthed a rare and rather ominous artifact—a skull imbued with necromantic energy. An eerie find, yet certainly one of value. Credit to Ielah Yelah’s wolf, Woolf, who managed to clear the rubble without so much as a scratch on the thing.

We found other trinkets, but our luck ran thin when night fell. As we rested, some unfortunate soul on watch (I won’t name names, mostly because I forgot) roused us just in time to see a hideous spider-like creature looming nearby. It didn’t attack—just scurried off—but none of us trusted that. We broke camp and rode through the night, exhausted but alive.

Come morning, we reached the base of Crucible 2. Reports mentioned a grate found by a previous expedition, and, after some searching, we located it. Just as we prepared to descend, that damned spider reappeared—this time charging straight for us. It very nearly had us, but Pita spell sent it plummeting to its doom. My boots confirmed its demise upon landing (I could use a bath).

Once underground, we tracked Imbiq movements and found them before long. Imbiq dialect was a mix of Draconic and something else, but we managed to communicate. She led us to their village, where we discovered something extraordinary: Lagamal, an ancient dragon in egg form, resting at the village’s heart. However the egg was able to assume his body through the use of a "Speaker"—he speaks to the kobolds, gives them guidance. And, as Imbiq casually mentioned, he has been there for six thousand years.

Imbiq sought permission from Lagamalto leave with us, but Lagamal had conditions. Before granting his approval, he requested something—a part for his new body. Yes, you read that correctly. The kobolds are building a body for him, implying this is not his first. Curious.

While debating whether this was worth our effort, it became clear that without fulfilling this request, Imbiq and Rensh would not be allowed to leave. Thus, our choice was made for us. We met with Stethik, an irritable kobold engineer who guided us to the arcane converter Lagamal required. This, of course, was embedded within a formidable construct that, unsurprisingly, was not keen on handing it over.

The battle was grueling, but fortune smiled upon us—electricity proved particularly effective, and Stethik, in a moment of brilliance, jerry-rigged a siege weapon to land a devastating blow. With the construct defeated, I patched up the party while Stethik extracted the arcane converter.

Upon returning to Lagamal, the device was delivered, and after some deliberation, the great dragon deemed that Imbiq and Rensh could accompany us.

Another mission complete—though the implications of what we’ve learned here will no doubt linger.
