Hey there! Uzuto here! I am writing this report about my trip with The Ashen Hawk, Beth, and Damin to the city of Cynosure. We went there to see if the Star of Cynosure, a sun that radiates yang energy (also known as positive or vital energy) from the Tower of Glass, could burn away the nexus in The Ashen Hawk's arm. After we all met up, we traveled to the city, though the journey was uneventful. I did not even see any bears, which is a shame because they are quite tasty. As we got closer to a sort of fort called the Rooster's Rest and The Ashen Hawk snuck off, I noticed that something was watching us through sculptures that were all around us. Because some of the sculptures were tipped over, I went to fix them and had a conversation with the person using them. They were much more polite than The Dreamer as they welcomed us into the fort, though I never did get to eat any roosters while I was there. Inside we met the person speaking, whose name was Captain Gathol.
He seemed quite fond of riddles and even offered us the opportunity to stay in the Rooster's Nest, but we were all quite excited to get to the city as swiftly as possible. We also learned that members of the Coalition who worship the Radiance sometimes use Cynosure as a pilgrimage site.
After arriving in Cynosure on Spectacle Street, I knew the most important thing to do was to find a place to eat because I was hungry. I asked the first person I saw what a good place would be to eat at, and he told me to try The Guest Star, a favored eating place of someone named Lord Niloufer. He introduced himself as Hedymel and even offered to eat with me, which was quite nice of him!
Meanwhile, the rest of the party went to a nearby tavern I later learned was called The Snickering Wolf.
After sitting with Hedymel and ordering a moderately sized meal (The meals were not free, so I had to be frugal.), I made conversation with Hedymel, learning a few things about the city, including that the real star of Cynosure might be more likely to destroy the Ashen Hawk if he got close than simply remove the nexus. I was even able to offer to teach him about cultivation, which he accepted! He is the first of the people I plan to teach, but not the last. I was also able to meet Master Bhari, who owns The Guest Star and even pointed me in the direction of someone named Doriel Grisard, a painter who would be able to solve the issue of the void nexus without the Ashen Hawk having to die.
Luckily enough, the rest of the group had already met with Doriel, and he gave us a list of ingredients to gather for him to be able to create the painting, or rather, unpaint the nexus out of the Ashen Hawk. I was also able to get the pricing for a commission (though what I got is a secret!). After spending the night at the Snickering Wolf, we went out to get the ingredients, though two of them eluded us, these being Millennium Green and Cynorite Yellow.
Cynorite Yellow is a pale, translucent and iridescent shade of yellow, similar to the colour of a lemon chiffon cake. It is one of the main official colours of Cynosure, used in heraldry, business logos, and similar. Sometimes, it is mixed into drugs as an energising component. Those who live in Cynosure and became inured to its vitality, as well as those who visited the city and yearn for the euphoric feeling again, often use Cynorite Yellow raw and undiluted, as a drug of its own.
The main component of this pigment is the crystal powder of Luminous Warpglass, combined with Glam-clam Glitter. The mixture is apparently always pleasantly warm to the touch.
Because Luminous Warpglass is harvested from the Tower of Glass, we thought it might be best to go there first, especially since we would need their permission to get access to the Real Star regardless. The guard told us that it would take quite a lot of paperwork to get a meeting, and it would take up to five business days to process (I am not sure what makes a business day different from a regular day), but that we could also try and incentivize Mistress Velapuri to help us sooner. One of her assistants helpfully led me to her after I called out for her for a bit, though sadly they do not have a public cafeteria. We met with Mistress Velapuri, where she asked us to investigate a cult. Meanwhile, The Ashen Hawk snuck off along with Damin. We learned that this cult, often called The Order of Three Faces, had recently become more violent, leading to gang wars alongside talks of shadow magic (this being mentioned alongside gang wars that lead to casualties makes me think that perhaps they are unfond of such magic in Cynosure). With little else to discuss, I went out to investigate right away! And then [the ink on the rest of the paper is smudged. It seems that Uzuto will need to finish this report at a later date.]
