The quiet incitation (589-602):

The alliance of the Unknown and the Gith / Time Raider had not fully conquered Trovius yet, when they already sent delegations towards Caldar (nation) in 589. The half elves dearly feared for their homeland as they had put so much effort into it for many years, but their prayers stayed unheard. Not only did the hostile soldiers outnumber the fighters of the half-elves, but they were also well-trained with weapons and magic. The government of the half-elves soon realized that they could not withstand the intruders as long as they kept up their alliance. Therefore, the ruler of Caldar assembled his most skilled fighters and formed an organization, called the Drogdaram, with the goal of destroying the alliance between the Eratus Empire and the Gith. The leader of this group was called Rai'Dazar, a man, blessed with strategical intellect and skill in battle. Rai'Dazar developed a plan to incite the alliance parties against each other. As the intruders claimed more and more of the land for themselves, the Drogdaram gathered the equipment of assassinated Eratus soldiers. They then launched several attacks against the Gith, disguised as Eratus soldiers, making them believe, they'd be attacked by their allies. The Drogdaram also spread rumors about the Gith, talking down the religion and traditions of the Eratus Empire hurting not only their trust but also their pride.

Their first actions had little to no effect, but after some years, the naive, and fast to act Gith turned against the Eratus Empire and attacked them. The Eratus Empire felt betrayed, but also knew that they couldn't fight the half elves and the Gith at the same time, so they withdrew themselves, avoiding the Gith as much as possible. In contrast to the Gith, the Eratus leaders were skeptical about the latest events and didn't want to risk losing Caldar after they had come so far.

The escalation (603-640):

The half-elves were euphoric, seeing that their tactics were successful, and kept going for some time. The Eratus Empire though did not want to fight the Gith and risk their progress in conquering the land, so they eventually parted ways with the Gith . The Gith pushed back the elves in the West of Caldar, while the Eratus Empire took over the East. Together, they pushed the half elves back up to Heavyfall. At this point the desperate half-elves decided that they had to change their strategies. By torturing an Eratus soldier, they found out that the Eratus and the Gith shared a magical artifact, called the "Duplex Aramari Swords"**.  According to their information, each nation possessed one half of it and they were mighty. The sword of the Githyanki was able to summon the powers of their homeland TorNav'Roc, creating busts of wind and even small tornados to push away their foes. The sword of the Eratus Empire spread light, empowering allies around the holder, even making them invincible for some seconds. The brave Eratus soldier though didn't say that the swords would only unleash their powers under certain circumstances. First, the holders needed to have honest and good intentions towards each other and second, the swords had to be close to each other. His words made the half-elves believe that they would weaken both opponents at the same time if they stole one of the swords and that they could use these powerful weapons themselves. They didn't know that at this time, the swords had lost nearly all their power, due to the distance between the nations. The half-elves planned a mission and even though Rai'Dazar had a good strategy, they were caught and the Gith realized that they had been tricked all this time. They were furious and started a bloody battle against the half-elves. Those could not simply let go of their home, so they gathered their last remaining forces to fight the Gith. They thought, they had separated the Eratus Empire and the Gith well enough to withstand at least one of them, but they were mistaken.

The last stand on the Hill of Redemption (641-643):

This Hill of Redemption was crowned with a small but finely crafted temple. Half-elven pilgrims would come here there often, praying to the Fragment Laia for the forgiving of their sins, and so the temple was of uttermost importance to the half-elves. In this final battle they were led by Rai'Dazar and just as before, their strategies were well thought through. They stood their ground against the Gith for quite some time. A few Caldarian soldiers proved to be extremely powerful, nothing like the Gith had faced before. Those few soldiers were showing extreme speed and strength able to stand their ground againsts hundreds of gith and survive wounds that would kill any mortal. However these super soldiers fled the fight for unknown reasons right before dawn and before the Eratus reinforcements arrived. The half-elves knew that they had lost. The fight was cruel and lasted for a long time, leaving no half-elf alive. The deed of the intruders tainted the place, and it is told that pilgrims who dared to get close to the temple after the battle were feeling worse than before. The remaining half-elves that hadn't participated in the battle fled across the mountains in different directions.  For a long time after the war they still mourned for their lost homeland, and they had to realize that their actions had not weakened the alliance between the Gith and the Eratus Empire, but they had strengthened it. For the alliance, this war was the proof that their swords worked as intended.

* In this article, Caldar refers to the nation and not the whole continent.
** Aramari is the word for "trust" in Gith
