A lady came in, the pet mage I suppose, who acted all high and mighty and blah blah blah. Told us that we would have just been let go in the morning for our petty crimes. However, the kid was guilty for stealing from an official and nearly killing two guards. The lady asked about where her her brother was... Turns out she's the sister of the ex-ship captain. She offered that if we go back to our cells, and tell her where her brother is, and let the kid get taken again... He'll lose a hand of his choosing as punishment. I was losing my mind and ready to fight the whole way, until I was given my sword back.
We took a huddle to discuss it. Sumiya wants to spare his hands. She managed to talk the lady down, saying we'll pretend to have fought and escaped while paying for the damages and a small bribe. Was very convincing, so we splashed some fake blood around, gave a silver moon, and readied to leave. She warned us not to be around in the morning, to set sail the moment we're on the ship. Something I think we're more than okay with doing. I doubt we can ever come back to this town.
As we head out, Sumiya and I decided to go with the kid to get a reward - maybe earn back that silver moon - while the rest escort Ras back to the ship.
(Break, 15 minutes)
Rameera didn't see: Ras, Onde, and Zayne returned to the ship and got a mild scolding from the captain. He told them to wait below deck, especially as Ras isn't necessarily meant to be off the ship in the first place. Plus we got arrested and caused a kerfuffle. Not ideal, we might be in trrooouuuble.
I tried to compliment Sumiya in talking our way out of the situation - even though I totally could have, myself! - as we escorted the kid to get that reward. As we came up to where the kid's ship should be, it wasn't there. I suggested maybe they moved piers to not attract attention, he agreed quickly. Sumiya and I silently agreed that we should go with him to find his ship... We checked every port (there are so many!! what!) and... nothing. He said that it was meant to be a quick one hour trip, but its been two days and they're gone. Probably back to the tribe. We can't just leave him, especially after we paid to make sure his hand was unchopped... It's kind of an investment. I'm not sure what best to do, we should probably take him with us, shouldn't we?
He promised if we bring him back that we'll be rewarded for returning him and revealing the traitors among his tribe. We didn't promise we could, but that he could talk to our captain and that it was an opportunity. We haven't really earned anything in a while so a reward sounds good, especially because this trip we actually spent instead. When we got back to the ship, Captain Renad insinuated he wasn't surprised that some of us got in trouble, but was surprised that others were. By that he means Sumiya, only. Am I really that bad? Does he not trust me? I thought I was a valued and trusted member of the crew... but maybe I'm just a pretender...
I admitted it was my fault. It was. I always screw up, I always do everything wrong. Constantly. So I may as well do the right thing and take the blame for everything that happened, as it was my fault. The captain said he would deal with my punishment in the morning. It almost doesn't matter what it is. I deserve it. I think if he doesn't, I'll be punishing myself for it for quite some time. I shouldn't have come here. Finding this stupid egg was a dumb idea. My parents won't be impressed, they won't care, it won't make them love me...
Anyway. The kid, introducing himself now as Haliinural Beequs (Haliin), offered to pay for an escort back to his tribe as he's the 2nd prince of it. The captain seemed unsure but ultimately agreed. So we have a job, for the first time in a while. Off we go. Alls well that ends well, I guess. Thanks to Sumiya. No thanks to me. I almost screwed everything up at every opportunity. Maybe I should stop playing pirate...
No! If I didn't get us arrested, we never would have gotten this opportunity. It's okay. I didn't screw up too bad. I won't be kicked out. I belong to be here. It will all be okay. It will.
