Treasurer's Log 003 - Attempted Murder on the Azure Express

(Early Morning)

So we're heading out of Anekae Town. I decided to fill out my journals of what happened today... A lot but very little, all at once. I don't feel super great about my performance today... but it's fine. It's just a bad moment, not a bad life. Right? Right.

I heard a scream, so I ran off to investigate it. I came to the deck and found Ras leaning over the railing like a child. She told me she heard footsteps and thought it was a new friend... We're out at sea though...? Zayne's shift on the crow's nest started and when he got up he found Ameina in the basket, clutching her stomach and bleeding. It seems she was stabbed, somehow, up there... Something really strange is going on...

He said that Ameina was stabbed by a 'magical knife'. Ras said that she was going to get some supplies to help, and told me to get Sumiya. I ran to her room and told her someone was stabbed in the crow's nest, and she told me to knock next time... I thought it would be fine because it was an emergency... I feel really dumb, obviously knock. How would I feel if someone stormed into my room and I was changing or something. That was dumb of me.

The crow's nest was pretty small and crowded so I suggested I could climb up and jump down with her with my surging... Then Sumiya chastised me again for suggesting moving someone who was stabbed... I didn't know that wasn't okay. I know if someone bonks their head or something you shouldn't, but it's just a big cut right? I only know the basics of medical stuff I learned in the academy. Ugh, I keep screwing up. She told me to go get supplies, at least that's not something I could screw up, right?

As I went down the deck other crewmembers ran up to gawk at the situation. I grabbed the medical supplies - as much as I could carry - and came back up to the deck to give them to Sumiya. In the nest Sumiya tried to stymie the bleeding, and after a nerve-wracking moment she got stabilized... Without the supplies I brought up. Very cool. Super useful, Rameera. You're really making yourself an invaluable member of the crew.

Some of the crew, and Zanye, were looking into the water because of Ras hearing the footprints... Draekha was by me, then suddenly not. I looked over the railing to find him waving his arms and drifting away in the water. I secured a rope around my waist and dove in after him. At least I can have confidence in physicality. I'm good with the sword, I'm fairly athletic I would like to think... Finally, I can prove that I deserve to be on this ship... by jumping off it. Ironic, that.

The very ocean seemed to work against me. It's as if the current is moving strange ways. Probably spirits or fae or whatever nonsense. I used a Surge to get to him, and leapt through the water to get to him. Swimming back felt impossible even with the others pulling the rope to help us along, so I created a platform and managed to leap to the ship. I basically used up all the sorcery I can manage for the day, but I kept Draekha alive, which was worth it. Finally, I could prove my worth. Make myself useful. Show everyone I belong here... Then we heard yelling under the deck, no time to rest on my laurels.

In the brig, Maenesa and Toraini were locked in. According to them, they saw Aelrik and followed him into the brig and then got locked in. The keys were nowhere to be found, so Zayne was called to pick the lock. He made quick work of it, he's really impressive. See? He steps up. Within moments of getting here he tripped a lock! Meanwhile I get sent away and do everything wrong... Ugh. Stupid Zayne. Effortlessly cool and useful. The two seemed confused, their stories changing.

((Ameina revealed to Sumiya it seemed like a giant bird appeared before them to cause the stabbing.))

Ras asked the water, or spirit I suppose, what it wanted. It told us to leave. To leave, never come back, or die. But we were passing through. We were on the way to leave! It took us longer to leave because of it!! Spirits are stupid, no wonder we're supposed to dock during sunrise and sunset.

We reached Kaeleil Atoll, and I took a bit of time to just get on solid land and not worry about stupid spirits and their stupid spirit nonsense.
