Ilrora is a high-fantasy world defined by a strict, impenetrable boundary between divine myth and documented history.
The Mythos (Pre-2000 BRM) Anything before the year 2000 BRM (Before the Rise of Man) belongs entirely to the realm of myth and religion. To the people of Ilrora, it is a matter of absolute faith that a pantheon of gods descended from the heavens to shape the world and fought a cosmological battle against Thereniel, the Betrayer, who sought to conquer death through necromancy. In truth, these "gods" were the Concord Expedition, a mortal adventuring party from the Radiant Citadel who arrived through an interplanar Concord Gate. Their era ended when the clash of a Wish and Finger of Death spell carved the 350-mile Shattervale canyon, leading the expedition's youngest member to remove the eleven control crystals from the Alexandrite Concord Jewel and scatter them across the world to seal the gate.
The Historical Era (Post-2000 BRM) Documented mortal history begins after 2000 BRM, recorded meticulously during the Age of Dominion and the ensuing 132-year War of Freedom against the ancient elven empire. It was during this brutal war that The Five—Aled Kindrick, Thalen Vire, Elyra Morn, Dorran Hale, and Seris Valen—stepped firmly into the historical record. Unlike the mythic "gods," The Five were real, documented mortals whose strategic brilliance, espionage, and unyielding strength shattered elven rule, unified humanity, and forged the modern world.
The Current Era Now, in the year 1200 ARM (After the Rise of Man), humanity stands as a dominant political force operating out of the Republic of Oshary. The world exists in a fragile geopolitical balance between five major powers: the dragonborn Rosestar Conglomerate, the dwarven kingdom of Oakenguard, the orc Tribes of Urag, the elven Holy State of Elandorr, and Oshary.
As the campaign begins, the buried past is waking up. Ancient ruins are being uncovered, and secret societies are making discoveries beneath the surface. Players will navigate a world of deep political tension, forgotten truths, and shifting wild magic, where the line between documented mortal history and divine myth is about to be shattered.
