The Twin Peaks are two imposing mountain structures that rise above the tangled and cursed expanse of the Burned Woods. Once natural bastions of stone, they have since become infamous as the site of a brutal Vampire Rebellion between the Von Carsteins, the noble vampiric family that once served Leonardo the Unliving, before their eventual revolt against his dominion.
During Leonardo’s reign, the Twin Peaks were not only used as a defensive stronghold but also became a grim laboratory for his horrific experiments. Deep within the shadowed caverns beneath the peaks, Leonardo housed one of his most grotesque and prized creations—a monstrous flesh golem, known as The Lost Daughter, that was once May Bellsprout, a beloved bard who had fallen into his clutches. Warped beyond recognition, she was transformed into a towering abomination of stitched sinew, necrotic energy, and bound souls, her mind shattered into mindless servitude. For years, she lurked in the depths of the mountain caves, luring unsuspecting travelers and would-be heroes to their deaths, dragging them into the darkness where her master awaited to claim fresh bodies for his unholy craft.
The Vampire Rebellion that followed saw the Von Carsteins, once fiercely loyal to Leonardo, betray him in their quest for true autonomy over the Burned Woods. Using the Twin Peaks as their staging ground, they waged war against their former master, calling upon dark forces in a desperate bid to break free from his control. The battle ended in a cataclysmic slaughter, with Leonardo emerging victorious, his fury unmatched. The Twin Peaks were left soaked in the ichor of fallen vampires, their bodies discarded as fuel for his insidious work.
Even after Leonardo’s defeat at the hands of The Sunsations, the Twin Peaks remain a place of horror. The restless spirits of the slain vampires roam the mountainsides, forever seeking vengeance for their failed rebellion. The caverns below remain cursed, a labyrinth of old horrors, whispers of lingering experiments, and the tragic echoes of May Bellsprout’s tormented existence. Those foolish enough to wander into the shadows of the Twin Peaks rarely return, and those who do speak of inhuman wails, of undying guardians, and of a presence still lurking deep within the earth—waiting for its master’s return.
