Giants were among the first and most powerful of the Titan-kin, having descended directly from the ancient Elementari. These primordial beings were remnants of a time before time, creatures of untamed elemental fury that roamed the world during the Second Age: Twilight of Creation. The Titans' presence threatened to tear the world asunder with their chaotic powers, and their ultimate defeat at the hands of the Dragon Realms and the Unknown led to the creation of the first giants from their remains.
The earliest giants were born from the dispersed essence of these fallen Titans, each giant type reflecting the elemental nature of the Titan they descended from:
- Storm Giants were formed from the essence of Storm Titans, inheriting their command over the skies and weather.
- Cloud Giants emerged from the remains of Air Titans, embodying the ethereal and often unpredictable nature of the air.
- Fire Giants were created from the scattered essence of Fire Titans, embodying the destructive and relentless power of flame.
- Frost Giants arose from the remnants of Ice Titan, embodying the brutal and unyielding cold.
- Death Giants were born from the essence of Revenant Titan, creatures of dark power and death.
These true giants represented the might and fury of their progenitors, each type inheriting the elemental force that once coursed through the Titans themselves. Over time, these giants became the rulers of their respective domains, shaping the very landscapes they inhabited.
From these core species, other giant-kin emerged, though they were not considered true giants in the same sense as their predecessors. These included the Stone Giants, Hill Giants, Trolls, Goliath, and Firbolg—lesser descendants who still carried the blood of the Titans but lacked the raw power of their ancestors.
