Azael, once a respected member of The Brass Tribe, found himself increasingly at odds with the prevailing attitudes of his people. While the tribe revered physical strength and martial prowess, Azael was drawn to the arcane arts, fascinated by the power and potential that magic offered. His pursuits, however, were not well-received. Many of the 'stronger' warriors of the tribe saw his focus on magic as a sign of weakness, and he was ostracized for his beliefs and practices.
Feeling alienated and misunderstood, Azael chose to leave the Brass Tribe and embark on a solitary journey across the vast expanse of The Sands of Serrakhan. During his travels, he explored ancient pyramids buried beneath the dunesea, uncovering lost secrets and gaining a deeper understanding of the arcane. His quest for knowledge led him ever northward, into a valley of karst mountains shrouded in a perpetual fog.
While navigating the treacherous landscape of the fog-veiled valley, Azael was ambushed by a mist drake. The fierce creature attacked with relentless ferocity, ultimately flinging Azael off the side of a sheer cliff. Gravely injured and teetering on the brink of death, Azael lost consciousness, his fate seemingly sealed.
When Azael awoke, he found himself in the lair of Miavryar, an ancient mist dragon of immense power and wisdom. The dragon, intrigued by Azael's resilience and potential, offered him a deal: become Miavryar's champion in exchange for the knowledge and power of an ancestral dragon. Eager to survive and grow stronger, Azael accepted the offer, forging a pact that would change his destiny forever.
Empowered by his newfound abilities and armed with the knowledge bestowed upon him by Miavryar, Azael returned to the Brass Tribe. His timing could not have been more crucial. Upon his arrival, he witnessed the horrific carnage inflicted upon his people by Karthus Wargrym and his Rift-Reavers. The once-vibrant camp lay in ruins, the bodies of his kin strewn about in a grim testament to the brutality of the attack.
As Azael took in the devastation, he saw his old friend Kairus struggling against an ambush. Drawing upon the powers granted to him by Miavryar, Azael intervened just in time, pulling Kairus into a pocket dimension to escape the assassins. Together, they strategized their next move, determined to avenge their fallen tribe and reclaim their rightful place in the Serrakhan Desert.
