Radegast Wargrym, once a decorated general within the mighty Empire of Bastile, was a Goliath who fell victim to the dark allure of power and the sinister whispers of the Night Mother Nyx. His tale is one of ambition, madness, and a fall from grace that led to one of the most bitter and tragic family betrayals in the history of the Wargrym house.
Radegast was a warrior of great renown, his prowess on the battlefield unmatched by most of his peers. Yet, it was in the quiet aftermath of battle, as he surveyed the fields littered with the dead, that his descent into darkness began. Night after night, as the crows and vultures descended to feast on the fallen, Radegast would see visions of the Night Mother in the periphery of his vision—her shadowy form flitting between the carrion birds, her eyes locking with his through the haze of death. These visions, at first fleeting, grew more intense with each passing battle, until they consumed his waking thoughts.
The visions, coupled with the bloodshed he witnessed and inflicted, slowly drove Radegast to madness. He became convinced that he was the chosen champion of death itself, a cursed warrior destined to spread the Night Mother's influence across the realms. It wasn't long before these delusions took root in his heart, twisting his loyalty to the Immortal Emperor Caeus into a burning desire for power.
Believing that he alone could wield the Night Mother's power to bring true order to the Empire, Radegast began plotting to usurp the Immortal Emperor and claim the throne of Bastile for himself. He grew increasingly erratic, his mind unraveling under the weight of his dark ambitions and the incessant whisperings of Nyx. His plans for a coup, however, did not go unnoticed.
His younger brother, Tiberius Wargrym, who was both a trusted confidant and a now turned bitter rival, discovered Radegast's treacherous intentions. Tiberius, a man of honor and unwavering loyalty to the Empire, confronted his brother in a desperate attempt to save both Radegast and their family from ruin. The confrontation was brutal, filled with accusations and the sorrow of brotherly love boiling to hatred. In the end, Radegast's madness overcame him, and he struck down his brother, leaving Tiberius dead at his feet.
The murder of Tiberius was the final act that sealed Radegast's fate. Knowing that he could no longer stay within the Empire and with his plans foiled, Radegast fled to The Netherveil, seeking refuge in the dark embrace of the Night Mother, Nyx. There, he became one of her most devoted servants, immersing himself fully in the powers of death and curses that she bestowed upon him.
But Radegast's treachery and the murder of Tiberius would not go unanswered. Galahad Wargrym, the son of Tiberius and a noble paladin of the Wargrym house, took up the mantle of vengeance. Fuelled by the need to avenge his father's death and cleanse the stain of treachery from his family name, Galahad pursued Radegast across the world and even into The Netherveil itself.
The final confrontation between uncle and nephew took place atop the Dread Marshes during the cataclysmic events of the Battle of the Four Armies. The two warriors, once bound by blood, now faced each other as bitter enemies. The battle was fierce, with Radegast unleashing the full might of the Night Mother's dark powers, but Galahad, driven by righteous fury and the memory of his fallen father, proved to be the stronger.
In the end, Radegast was defeated, his head severed by Galahad's blade. His body fell into the mass of slain corpses that littered the battlefield, and with his death, the Night Mother's grip on the Wargrym family was broken. Radegast's name would be remembered as a cautionary tale—a story of how the pursuit of power and the influence of dark forces can lead even the greatest of warriors to ruin. His legacy, however, would forever be marred by the blood he spilled and the brother he betrayed.
