Captain Ulric

This character is dead.
Ghastly Imperial Captain
Ghost Captain

Ulric was borne many hundred years ago in the distant island city of Bastile, cradle of the Empire of Bastile. Born to a sea-faring town on the western coast of Tolria, Ulric grew an aptitude to sailing and fishing the seas at a very early age. Seeing the royal Bastilian navy sailing off of the coast every few months, Ulric knew one day he was destined to captain such a vessel across the high seas. That very dream came to pass as he excelled at the sea-mans literacy tests taken through the Imperial Academy. Rising to the rank of captain, Ulric found himself commanding a small fleet of three frigates which protected the Bay of Bastile from Black Flag Pirates. Winning many a victory over the pirates, Ulric ascended in rank after reclaiming the crown jewel of the Imperial Navy, The Kraken, before being gifted the reclaimed ship by the Immortal Emperor Caeus himself and renaming it 'The Valorant'. Set for greatness, Ulric decided that his skills exceeded his post and volunteered for the first expedition westward.. To Osira. Leading a large crew of seasoned and veteran pirate hunters, he navigated the shining sea between Tolria and Osira with brilliance before coming upon the The Silver Veil Sea and getting separated from the fleet. Caught in a brutal maelstrom, his ship came under attack by the mighty Unknown which dismantled his ship and killed his crew - leaving only Ulric alive. In this moment of desperation, he made a fateful bargain to sail the high seas in servitude of the beast for all of time with his ghastly crew, leaving the spoils of plunder to the sea for the creature to collect.  Roaming the The Silver Veil Sea for 456 years, Ulric destroyed many a vessel and captured scores of Vanir sailors from Aerenal, working them to death on the ores and assimilating their ghosts with his Undead crew. It wasn't until Guy the Grateful was captured by Ulric that he began an uprising and destroyed the cursed pendant which bound the crew to The Valorant, freeing the sailors ghosts and finally putting them to rest... The captains dying words pleaded Guy the Grateful to kill the sea beast which did this to him and his men before he sank beneath the watery tides of the sea.
