Sir Galathil Dawnshroud beamed with the unwavering brightness of the spring sun, an incurable optimist whose spirit never seemed to falter—no matter how dire the storm. Even when trudging through the frost-bitten wastes of Norska, his words of encouragement and radiant smile buoyed the hearts of his companions. To Galathil, honor was not simply a code, but a song—sung in the rhythm of the sword and the silence of sacrifice.
Origins & Expeditions
Once a noble knight of Ithandriel in the Faewyld, Sir Galathil was handpicked to join the Royal Thornsworn, the elite guard of the Court of Verdance, after a legendary act of valor. While escorting Queen Visunna on a pilgrimage through the twilight glades of the Faewyld, he intercepted and deflected a cursed rose thorn conjured by Morrígna, the Black Rose, dread sovereign of the Court of Verdance. The rose thorn, intended to kill Visunna, instead shattered against Galathil's chestplate, burning the vines into his armor forever—a living sigil of sacrifice.
Recognizing his heart’s purity and unwavering loyalty, Queen Visunna sent Galathil to the Prime Plane after the Conjunction of the Realms, assigning him a sacred, secret charge: to guard her son, Nika Nu Ten. Galathil fell to Osira cloaked in emerald flame… but not without cost. The descent scrambled his memory, fractured by the curse of Baba Yaga—a cruel hex placed on Nika, which would leave him unaware of his true purpose.
Even so, fate held to its thread. Galathil found Nika and pledged himself as his protector without understanding why—only knowing in his heart that it was right. He aided Nika through the Y’azi Peninsula, across the dragon City of Hojo, and eventually reunited with Nika’s sister Zyla Nu Ten, joining their journey atop her feathered dragon Zaigetsu toward the frozen wastes of Norska.
There, amidst the glacial caverns and aurora-lit skies, they sought out the risen Warrior-King Varaghast Ghuul, and Galathil’s courage never waned.
The Fall of Galathil
His end came not in fanfare, but in the chill of a hunter's ambush. As the Chosen of Khaos—Yavok Starpath and Pali—struck from the white abyss of the Norden Wastes, The Sunsations were caught in a trap. Ice-shard arrows struck like comets, and Pali, in monstrous werebear form, carved a path of carnage through the glacial cave they had fallen into. Galathil, gravely wounded, still leapt into the fray to shield Nika and Zyla from certain death.
Though his body was frozen in the arctic cave beneath the shattered tundra, he died smiling, giving a thumbs-up to the Nu-Tens as the light dimmed behind his evergreen eyes. Solandir then burned his remains in rift-fire to prevent his corruption to Khaos, his golden rapier entangled in ivy and laid across his chest like a vow eternal.
