Conjunction of the Realms

12301 AA

The Conjunction of the Realms was a catastrophic interplanar merging event orchestrated by Primarch Prometheus, greatest of the Primarchs of the Sun, in alliance with Morrígna, the Black Rose, Archfey Queen of the Court of Wither. Occurring during the early years of the Fifth Age, this calamity sundered the boundary between the Plane of Faewyld and the Prime Plane, transforming vast swaths of The Sands of Serrakhan into the overgrown biome now known simply as The Faewylds.

Though masked in prophecy and cloaked in false promises of divine renewal, the Conjunction was, in truth, a calculated assault on reality’s foundations—one that nearly plunged the realms into permanent imbalance. Its legacy is etched into the altered landscape of Osira, the corrupted ley lines, and the lives lost to its blinding riftlight.

Origins

The Conjunction’s true genesis lies with the Primarch's Release, immortal abominations crafted by Malekith from the ribs of The Great Serpent. These beings—Prometheus foremost among them—had been sealed within the enchanted mural of the Temple of the Seven Suns by High Priest Ishmael and Elder Runewright Talus, condemned to relive a false war for eternity.

When the mural's enchantment unraveled due to the actions of The Sunsations, the Primarchs escaped and began the Scourge of the Seven Suns, unleashing divine terror upon the Serrakhan Sultanate.

Prometheus, more ambitious than his kin, sought not only to restore their dominion—but to remake the world in Malekith’s solar image. He saw the Prime Plane as flawed, brittle, and stagnant. The Faewyld, ever-shifting and fertile, presented a canvas upon which to paint a new golden order. Thus, he conspired with Morrígna, ruler of the Court of Wither, whose own ambitions aligned with Prometheus's desire for chaos, transformation, and supremacy.

Rise of the Promythean

Prometheus raised the Promythean, a radiant, Rift-warped ziggurat of goldsteel and sandstone, crowned with floating concentric rings that channeled the interplanar Riftways. This structure did not merely exist on the Prime Plane—it drifted between worlds, growing more unstable with each passing day as its central beacon carved through the veil.

Within the Promythean, Prometheus anchored his essence to a demi-plane forged from a pocket of the Faewyld he carved out for himself. There, he enacted the Ritual of Concordia, fusing ley threads from both planes around an astral fulcrum buried within the ziggurat’s heart.

This fulcrum—a corrupted Infinity Shard of The Infinite Continuum once hidden in the Faewyld—was the key to his plan. When fully charged, it would collapse the boundaries between the planes and initiate a permanent interweaving of their geographies, ecosystems, and Ether realities.

Cataclysm

When the Ritual of Concordia completed, the Conjunction of the Realms began.

  • The western expanse of the Serrakhan Dune Sea ruptured, becoming overgrown by sentient flora, timeless groves, and skyroot trees not seen in millennia. Time twisted. Rivers flowed backward. Stars vanished.
  • Torbah, a backwater sultanate trade town, was obliterated in a matter of seconds, devoured by creeping vines and gnarled roots as elemental entropy reshaped the land into an alien forest.
  • Faewyld fauna spilled into the material world—twilight stags, mirror-foxes, and banshee orchids began reshaping the predator-prey balance of the region, while nightmare-bred beasts from the Court of Wither stalked the new terrain.
  • The Veil thinned irrevocably, allowing passage to lesser archfey, rogue Elementari, and parasitic Rift-wyrms across the new faultlines of reality.

The region became known as The Faewylds of Serrakhan—a haunting biome where light glows in iridescent hues and memory distors in howling winds.

The Sunsations' Salvation

Though many believed the world beyond saving, the Sunsations infiltrated the Promythean in its final hours. Inside, they confronted Prometheus, who had already reforged Kairus the Brass and Losk the Wanderer into twisted reflections of their former selves—Solar-bound Primarchs shackled by divine servitude.

At the climax of the battle, Talyen absorbed a blast of radiant energy from Losk, whom sacrificed his essence to slay the sunsations.. Using this opportunity, Guy the Grateful activated the Dawn Device, a mythic artifact forged by Talus to contain entities of divine magnitude. With it, the Sunsations imprisoned Prometheus, along with Kairus and Losk, within a rift-sealed core, severing the conduit sustaining the conjunction.

The Promythean fell, scattering its rings into the sky and collapsing into the dune-rooted chasm it had risen from.

Apocalyptic Aftermath

The western coast of Serrakhan remains irrevocably changed, now a semi-permanent rift biome where the Prime Plane and Faewyld still overlap. Nature blooms unnaturally fast, and time distorts unpredictably. Travelers lose memories, and Archfey permeate their will through the overgrown foliage.

The Serrakhan Sultanate has cordoned off the region, declaring it unsalvageable and hostile. Only the Sunsations and the Sacred Scions of the Sun dare venture into it.

Arcane scholars and elementalists note that the Conjunction has weakened the planar bindings. Rift storms have become more common, and ley lines increasingly unstable. However, with The Continuum Crystal restored by Talyen's sacrifice during the Path of the Four Elements, such events have begun to subside.

The Conjunction of the Realms marks the single greatest Rift tear between realms since Third Continuum Crisis. Though Prometheus was sealed, his actions accelerated the unraveling of reality’s boundaries, serving as both harbinger and architect of Malekith’s long-gestating return (see: Battle of the Black Sun).

To this day, the golden rings of the Promythean remain embedded in the soil, visible only beneath certain moons. They hum with faint light and whisper the name of their maker.

Prometheus dreamed of a paradise. He left behind anything but.
