Fineas Farric

This character is dead.
The Lost Son
NPC

Fineas Farric, once the pride of the Farric family and a rising star among the Vanir of Aerenal, fell from grace after a series of betrayals, tragedies, and self-imposed exile. A gifted mage and promising candidate for The Elden Council, his life was irrevocably altered during the Trial of The Arcane Elements. Betrayed by his brother Ares Farric, manipulated by his closest allies, and ultimately lost to the allure of power and despair, Fineas’s journey led him across the seas to Tolria, where he eventually assumed the identity of the Leviathan, a feared anarchist and agent of Khaos.e

Early Life in Aerenal

Born into the Noble House Farric, Fineas was groomed from an early age to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors. As a student of the Aefir Academy of the Arcane, he demonstrated exceptional talent in arcane arts and was poised to take his place among the most celebrated mages of his time.

The Trial of the Arcane Elements

  • Fineas embarked on the trial alongside Elora Aefir, his childhood friend, and Tyrael Aefir, whose reckless actions nearly caused their disqualification.
  • During the trial’s final stage in the Scorched Valley, Fineas faced a shadow wraith that nearly claimed his life. Only the protection of a magical pendant, gifted by his mother, Ellavanya Farric, saved him. However, Elora sacrificed herself to ensure Fineas’s survival, a loss that would haunt him forever.
  • The aftermath was marred by betrayal. Ares Farric, his magically inept brother, sabotaged Fineas’s chances at claiming his rightful seat on the Elden Council, pushing Fineas into a spiral of doubt and anger.

Self-Imposed Exile

  • Disillusioned and burdened by the death of Elora and his brother’s treachery, Fineas chose exile over confrontation. He set sail across The Silver Veil Sea, abandoning his family and homeland in search of a new purpose.

Life in Tolria

Arriving on the shores of Alpia, Fineas encountered a group of adventurers who became his allies. For years, he fought alongside them, hunting the Infinitum cult and other threats. However, his past continued to haunt him, and the specter of his mother, conjured by the arcane disaster of Solisnek, planted seeds of doubt and despair.

Descent into the Leviathan

  • As the weight of his past grew unbearable, Fineas chose to sever his ties to Aerenal, erasing his memories and adopting the moniker of The Leviathan.
  • Under this guise, he worked to dismantle the established order in Tolria, weakening the Northern Kingdoms in preparation for an imperial invasion by the southern Empire of Bastile. His actions sowed chaos and destruction, cementing his reputation as a cruel and enigmatic anarchist.

Death and Downfall

  • During the events of the Third Continuum Crisis, Fineas confronted the consequences of his choices. The remnants of his past resurfaced as he faced Balthazar the Blighted, who had manipulated his friends from the shadows.
  • Despite a final effort to redeem himself, Fineas was struck down by Power Word Kill, a devastating end to a life filled with potential and tragedy.

Legacy

Fineas was a man of extraordinary talent and intellect, but his life was defined by tragedy, betrayal, and the weight of his own decisions. His transformation into the Leviathan is a cautionary tale of the dangers of despair and unchecked ambition.

While his actions as the Leviathan caused immense suffering, his legacy also serves as a reminder of the fragility of potential and the importance of redemption. Among the Vanir, Fineas is remembered with equal parts sorrow and shame, a fallen star whose light was extinguished far too soon.

In Tolria, however, he remains a polarizing figure—a shadowy enigma whose actions reshaped the land in ways still felt long after his demise.
