History & Origins
Aurel Amberleaf is Sylvarin-born, one of the earliest children reborn from the Rift Crystals whose soul resonated most strongly with transition—the moment between abundance and decline.
Where others feared Fall’s coming, Aurel embraced it.
He departed Ithandriel centuries ago, following the pull of harvest magic to the Honeysuckle Spread, where honeyed waters pooled thick with pollen, memory, and sweetness edging toward rot. There, he shaped the Amberleaf Forest—a place where beauty lingers deliberately, refusing to rush its own ending.
Aurel did not conquer his domain. He curated it. Notably, he serves as the 'Lord of Last Light' in Amberhaven–an elected position to which he was won for nearly a millennia.
Nature & Temperament
Aurel is elegant, theatrical, and deeply perceptive. He flatters easily—but never without purpose. Praise from Aurel is a spell as much as a kindness, and many have found themselves indebted without realizing how.
He is benevolent, but not sentimental. He understands that Fall is not mercy—it is reckoning softened by beauty.
Aurel delights in:
- Hosting lavish gatherings that feel one breath from melancholy
- Encouraging mortals and fae alike to savor moments before they pass
- Subtle enchantments that turn nostalgia into power
Despite his flamboyance, he is careful. He does not overreach. He has seen too many Archfey burn brightly and vanish.
Role in the Faewyld
Aurel embodies Fall’s grace—the art of letting go well.
He serves as a cultural bridge between realms, often acting as an intermediary when the Court of Verdance's diplomacy falters. Queen Visunna respects his restraint. King Cernunnos values his honesty. Morrígna watches him closely, uncertain whether he is ally or obstacle.
At the Harvest Happening, Aurel’s absence—or presence—is always noted. This year, he attends in person… but his laughter rings thinner than usual.
