Noctyrr of Hollow Eye

The Hollow Eyed

History & Origins

Noctyrr nearly predates the Court of Verdance.

He emerged when the first Sylvarin dead were laid to rest among the sequoias—when roots learned to remember souls. Where grief pooled too deeply, where time folded inward, Noctyrr took shape: an owl of immense size, antlers branching like dead trees, eyes pale and empty.

It is believed he did not lose his sight. He set it aside to see the Faewyld as it truly is.

Nature & Temperament

Noctyrr is distant, slow-spoken, and almost impossible to provoke. He does not speak often, and when he does, his words land with unsettling precision.

He perceives:

  • Past actions echoing in the present
  • Possible futures branching like roots
  • Emotional truths people hide even from themselves

Those near him often feel seen in ways they did not consent to.

He maintains a deep friendship with Philemon, the Treant Sage of Verdance. The two are rarely seen together, yet their understanding is absolute. Where Philemon tends growth, Noctyrr tends memory.

Role in the Faewyld

Noctyrr represents Fall’s remembrance—the quiet accounting that follows harvest.

He is not a ruler in the conventional sense. The forest listens to him because it remembers him. Spirits linger near his domain, drawn by the promise of being understood before rebirth.

At the Harvest Happening, Noctyrr’s presence is profoundly unsettling. He perceives without blinking.
