Under these conditions, multiple reptilian species independently evolved sentience, converging toward humanoid forms optimized for endurance, sensory acuity, and predation survival.
Early Istryxian societies developed as nomadic or semi-settled hunter-gatherer tribes. Rather than pursue industrial expansion, they refined biological symbiosis, selectively breeding and bonding with native fauna to compensate for technological limitations.
Initial contact with the Halcyion was hostile. A crusade by the Holy Knights of Halcyion, driven by the assumption that the Istryxian were pre-sentient or culturally stagnant, resulted in significant Halcyion losses.
