When the early settlers arrived in the area now Seregon, the Greycaps lived peacefully on the land. Through a series of misunderstandings, the leader of the exploration party, Captain Sereg Kerkhof attacked and destroyed The Greycaps. Following this event, known as The Greycap Massacre, the settlers built their city, when one day, after a foray chasing pirates, the captain returned to find every man, woman and child missing. This is known as The Time of Sadness.
The missing people were believed to have been abducted by The Greycaps and taken underground, most likely sacrificed in some ritual of cleansing. They never returned. The pain of this event lasted generations, yet the city continued to grow and peace was eventually established with The Greycaps.
