Temple of Mitra

The Temple of Mitra in Seregon is a beacon of purity and order, situated in the heart of the Temple Way district. Unlike the more elaborate and ostentatious temples, Mitra’s temple is characterized by its simplicity and grandeur. The structure is built of white marble, its smooth surfaces reflecting the sunlight, creating an aura of warmth and clarity. The architecture is classical, with tall, fluted columns supporting a domed roof, at the center of which is a golden sunburst that captures and magnifies the sun's rays, bathing the interior in a soft, ethereal glow.

The entrance is guarded by two towering statues of eagles, their wings outstretched as if protecting the sanctity of the space within. Inside, the temple is serene and orderly. The central chamber is dominated by a large statue of Mitra, depicted as a bearded elder holding a scepter. However, this statue is not an object of worship but rather a symbol of the god's presence, representing his ideals of law, justice, and benevolence.

The rituals in the Temple of Mitra are marked by their simplicity and solemnity. There is no place here for the blood sacrifices or orgiastic rites seen in other temples. Instead, worshippers offer prayers, light candles, and sing hymns that praise the virtues of truth, justice, and compassion. Mitra’s priests, known simply as The Custodians, are dedicated to spreading the message of one true god, urging the people of Seregon to turn away from the many pagan idols and embrace the light of Mitra. They are known for their unwavering devotion and their commitment to upholding the law and protecting the innocent. These priests often serve as advisors to the city’s leaders, guiding them with wisdom and compassion.

The Custodians also guard the relic known as Huracan, the Heart of a True Saint. It is guarded by a Deva named Tagwan. It's located in an underground vault.

Saint Huracan was a revered hero of the ancient city of Azural, known for his unwavering devotion to Mitra, the god of justice and light. With a heart as pure as the celestial flames he worshipped, Huracan was a beacon of hope in a time of darkness. When a horde of demonic forces threatened to overrun Azural, Huracan, armed only with his faith and a blessed sword, stood alone at the city's gates. In a final act of self-sacrifice, he channeled the divine power of Mitra to unleash a radiant storm, obliterating the demonic army but consuming himself in the process. His death saved Azural and left behind a legacy of courage, purity, and eternal light.
