Beastmen

The Beastmen of Moog and nearby Elephant Island are a terrifying force, feared for their brutality and savage nature. Descended from a primitive branch of humankind, they are known for their fierce aggression, cruelty, and disdain for anything they perceive as weaker than themselves. These tribes, numbering in the dozens, have a reputation that strikes fear into the hearts of travelers and adventurers alike.

Beastmen are notorious for their raids, where they seize captives to drag back to their lairs. These unfortunate souls face a grim fate, whether it be slavery, sacrifice to the Beastmen's bloodthirsty gods, or torture for the sadistic amusement of their captors. The Immortals of Karsis, who have fought them extensively, warn that it is better to take one’s own life than to fall into the hands of the Beastmen, and this grim advice is not given lightly.

The Beastmen harbor a deep-seated hatred for humans and most other intelligent races. They view all other peoples as enemies and will kill any they cannot capture. Cannibalism is practiced among them, but not for sustenance; instead, it is a sacred ritual that symbolizes dominance over their foes. Such rituals are carried out with elaborate preparations, underscoring their significance in Beastmen culture.

In their tribes, only the strong survive. Most adult Beastmen are hunters, and those who cannot keep up with the demands of the tribe are abandoned to their fate. This harsh existence breeds formidable warriors, who eagerly throw themselves into battle with reckless abandon. Confident in their physical superiority, Beastmen will often attack even when outnumbered, relying on their strength and ferocity to overwhelm their enemies.

Beastmen harbor a deep fear and hatred of arcane magic. They believe that magic is inherently evil, and they often put captured spellcasters to death through gruesome rituals to ensure that the "bad magic" dies with them. Despite this fear, some Beastmen are drawn to dark, primitive spirits of the jungle or pledge themselves to the service of the ape-god Herum, (see Temple of Herum) seeking power through bloodshed and sacrifice.

The Beastmen’s savagery, combined with their disdain for magic and other races, makes them a relentless threat to anyone who ventures into the wild lands of Moog and Elephant Island. Their tribes remain a constant danger, ready to strike at any who dare to cross their paths.

Beastmen are believed to be immune to Amber Fever due to the Seed of Dagoth.
