Old Knot Station, once a hopeful train station, is now the gate through the city walls to the jungle. The tracks were pulled decades ago and the train cars moved to the Old Necropolis, in hopes of using them again one day. Many were sealed with the bodies of Amber Fever victims.
The Iron Guard manage all comings and goings at this gate and Station Gate acts as an additional armory and barracks, their third in this ward, whereas most wards have one. They feel this gate is the weak point in their defenses otherwise.
The area is patrolled and there is excellent all-round lines of sight. The gates stand open during the day, except when heavy rain restricts visibility or patrols have reported unusual amounts of undead in the neighborhood. During such times, a heavy portcullis is lowered, allowing travelers to talk with guards without the risk of an attack.
Guards are doing brief searches of incoming people, while the outgoing are mostly ignored:
- Trade goods coming in. Trade goods coming into the city are subject to taxation, unless a receipt can be shown.
- Drugs coming in, especially Black Lotus or it's Black Milk. Elves are especially searched.
- Residency papers are required for dragonborn, as their numbers are restricted in the city.
- Wanted individuals. They have drawings on the wall of wanted criminals.
- They do not care about income treasure, artifacts, weapons, etc.
