Golden vault keys were standardized keys, distributed to agents of the Golden Vault by their handler in order to be briefed for a mission. The keys contained the information needed to begin their task, but did not work until inserted into a Golden Vault Music Box, where a magic mouth would open to relay a prerecorded message.
After their magic was expended, the keys would disappear to ensure that secrecy of the Golden Vault was preserved.
