A winding river that ran through small valleys in the Emberpeak Mountains, the Ashwater boiled and belched as it made its way around the peaks. It cooled as it traveled down into the eastern edge of mountains, where it stretched from the Ashen Ring into the Sea of Trees. The river was choked with ashes from its source, poisoning its waters, and had no known terminus. Those following the river Ashwater surveyed that it extended beyond the Astralwood, feeding waters unknown.
As it connected two of the most dangerous places in Commona, the only travelers along the river tended to be cargo ships loaded with precious minerals, heading east from the mountains. These ships were generally unloaded on the banks near Fortune's Bridge, traveling no closer to the Sea of Trees than necessary.
