Ghoul

Ghouls were undead humanoids who devoured the flesh of corpses, appearing as emaciated, roughly humanoid creatures with a decaying hide stretched tight its over bones. Ghouls sought to ambush unwary victims wherever they could, usually hiding behind gravestones or in shallow graves they could swiftly burst out of, and would paralyze their prey with a claw wound before devouring them.

Constantly rotting, they had a horrible stench, and humanoids who survived ghoul encounters could be turned into ghouls themselves if they succumbed to disease passed from the ghoul's maw. Some necromancers and cultists sought to control or summon ghouls to serve as guardians or enforcers, often in a group lead by a Ghast.
