Ghast

Ghasts were a more powerful subtype of Ghoul, once-humanoids transformed by dark rituals or cursed by malevolent spirits. Twisted by decay and corruption, they were far more cunning than ghouls, and had possessed paralytic claws and long tuns. Ghasts sought to ambush unwary victims wherever they could, often while leading packs of Ghouls themselves, and would paralyze their prey with a claw wound before devouring them. Ghasts had a significantly stronger stench of death and rot than ghouls, emanating terrible enough to cause nausea, retching, and even paralysis.

Characterized by their loose tongue muscles and eyes that glowed with malevolent hunger, they were found in dark tunnels, desolate wastelenads, and forgotten crypts. Some necromancers and cultists sought to control or summon ghasts to serve as guardians or enforcers, their vile nature and insatiable hunger aligning with darker ambitions and malevolent desires.
