Tarokka Deck

In the hands of a Vistani seer, a deck of tarokka cards could tell tales of the future and provide answers to many a dark and mysterious question. Although the workmanship and artistic quality of the cards varied from deck to deck, the ability of the cards to call forth information about the future was far more valuable than the monetary worth of a deck.

A tarokka deck had fifty-four cards, each with their own name and meanings. Forty of them comprised the common deck, which divided into four suits: swords, coins, stars, and glyphs. Each suit contained cards numbered one through nine, plus a tenth card, called the master of that suit. The remaining fourteen cards made up the high deck, which symbolized the natural forces of the multiverse. These cards were represented by a crown symbol and were the most powerful cards in the deck.
