The highest peak in the southern Balinok Mountains and the highest in the mountain valley of Barovia in general, Mount Ghakis was estimated to be 9573 feet at its peak. The lands around it were frigid to the point of inaccessibility, and heavy mist prevented mortals to travel south past the domain. The only way up much of the mountain was via the treachorous Tsolenka Pass, meaning most of Mount Ghakis received few visitors. This natural protection, both from the rest of the valley and from Castle Ravenloft, made it an ideal building place for the Amber Temple.
Northern waters from this mountain fed Tser Falls and the rest of the Ivlis River, and from its northwesterly slope, descended into Luna Lake.
