A small lake in northwest Barovia, Lake Baratok was fed by a series of underground tributaries from the Balinok Mountains, and drained into the Raven River out into the mists beyond the valley. Generally hidden and unknown by most residents of Barovia, it was only truly accessible by footpaths stemming from the Old Svalich Road. West of the lake was the Werewolf Den, though this complex was mostly accessed by its occupants through the Svalich Woods rather than via water.
At a southeastern point of the lake, a causeway stretched a hundred yards to a small marshy island. There, Orlev ben Khazan built Khazan's Tower, a feature which managed to outlive the wizard who created it.
