In Curse Of Strahd, hundreds of years after the Order's destruction, Tobias Villie Broadnose Cogsmith and Ghalwin of the Grove took up its mantle. With the help of the Heralds of Dawn, and with Argynvost's blessing, the knights were laid to rest, and Argynvostholt was converted into a bastion of protection once more.
As the Silver Dragon Argynvost grew, he began to research the secrets of his kind, and learned that they may be related to the Azure Paragon and an ancient war with the Giant-kin. Desperate to learn more, He used his wealth and resources to attract other champions of good, and valorous Human knights flocked to join the cause. This organization became the Order of the Silver Dragon, founded to protect the land against the growing evil threats in the region.
They were known by their vows: "By the light reflecting from our sacred silver, we vow to rid the world of the devil's touch. In the face of darkness, we stand unyielding, for we are the shield that guards the innocent. Our souls bound by frost and our blades forged in truth, we are the Order of the Silver Dragon."
Most of the Order left their base at the Silver Dragon's Hideout to create Argynvostholt in an effort to fight off the warlord Strahd von Zarovich. Their cause would ultimately be a losing effort, and after a routing at the Hideout, no knights of the Order were left alive. Instead, they remained as Revenants, unable to move on from the curse that afflicted all in Barovia.
