Tongue of madness was a fungus that grew in the Underdark. When mature, it resembled a large human tongue and was edible but had a specific type of toxin that affected many types of Mortalkind.
When consumed, any creature with the power of speech effects felt compelled to speak their every thought. Those of sufficient constitution could resist this effect, which would typically last for around an hour.
