Matchstick Foundry

The Matchstick Foundry was the great forge in Emblem where Artificers and Wizards worked to mass-produce the Torchwarden Staff, the symbol of power of the Torchwarden. Dozens of individual forges filled the hall with heat, smoke, and the constant clang of hammers on metal. Each staff was shaped with fire and Spellcraft, then imbued with the ability to divine and dispel magic. Finally, the staves were enchanted to control citizenry, giving even inexperienced Torchwardens the power to enforce the law across the city.

Broken, spent, or destroyed matchsticks were also brought to the foundry to be reforged. Artificers would carefully dismantle damaged staves, recover what energy remained, and reshape them into new implements. Only those completely spent and turned to ash were lost forever, an act of carelessness that was often grounds for dismissal among the Torchwarden.
