Firebird

Believed to be related to the greater Phoenixes, Firebirds were human-sized Elemental avians with long tails, bright plumage of reds, oranges, and golds, and severe curved beaks. Native to the Realm of Fire, they could also be found on the Prime Material, where their striking appearance made them seem majestic in flight, although their bodies were stocky and their wings stubby. They stored stolen trinkets in pouches in their necks, often regurgitating the items later to place them in their nests.

Firebirds showed curiosity and some intelligence, enough to learn simple skills, use tools, and even understand Common when living around Mortalkind. However, these birds were most notable for their kleptomania and vanity. They constantly sought out glittering objects such as gems, glass, or jewelry, prancing about in glee when they believed they had escaped notice. Firebirds thought of themselves as both brilliant and beautiful, often bursting into song over their treasures or their own magnificence. In reality, their voices were shrill and disruptive, capable of startling animals, spoiling food, and even shaking apart stonework.

Although not aggressive by nature, firebirds could become threatening when cornered. They intimidated opponents by puffing up, hissing, and flapping their wings, and their songs could disorient flying creatures. When pressed into combat, they relied more on bluffing and displays than actual skill, with their only real fighting experience coming from clumsy displays during mating contests.
