Voss Bridgewater was born in the alleys of Fort Creechling and spent his early years as an urchin, learning how to steal, lie, and survive. The Human grew into a loud and physical man who loved drink and carousing, and who carried himself as if daring the world to challenge him. Joining the Common League army gave him structure and a sense of worth he had never known. His brash attitude, sharp tongue, and open disdain for Orcs, Crossborn, and Otherborn made him enemies among both peers and superiors, but Voss saw this as proof of his honesty rather than a flaw.
Over time, his behavior was judged less as bluntness and more as a liability. Complaints followed him, along with reports of unnecessary cruelty and an inability to work within mixed units. Command quietly removed him from his post and reassigned him to Aone Island, where he was offered a contract guarding the prison of Bleak End, a place where isolation and hard lines were considered virtues. Voss accepted without protest, telling himself it was still honest soldier’s work, even as it marked the end of any real advancement in the Common army.
