Giant Vampire Bat

Giant vampire bats were larger, more dangerous kin of Vampire Bats, sharing their sanguivorous diet and nocturnal habits. Like their smaller relatives, they relied on echolocation to navigate and hunt, rendering their natural eyesight weak and leaving them largely unaffected by light-based impairments, while effects that suppressed sound could disorient them completely. Their bite carried a soporific quality that could render prey unconscious for several minutes, allowing uninterrupted feeding.

Giant vampire bats were typically solitary or found in small groups, inhabiting dark caverns or dense jungles where they preyed on large mammals. Though not Undead, creatures slain by exsanguination at their fangs sometimes rose again as undead within a day, a trait that deepened their association with vampiric forces. Their presence often heightened fear of true Vampires, and they were known to appear alongside such creatures, whether drawn by shared feeding grounds or summoned through dark Spellcraft.
