Last session began with Kaida's birthday party, planned and executed by her loving sister Kailee Greystone. And Kailee had a big surprise for her big sister; she had invited some unexpected guests to the party! Tanner Illrune and Sylvester Greystone came all the way from Limani for the celebration and are staying for five days, planning to leave tomorrow on Ettrios 44th. Marvin Rose was also invited, at the prompting of a certain armoured friend. The group went out for supper at a fancy restaurant in Kamari and then headed back to Kailee's dorm room to drink and play a game. The party learned more about each other and Kaida's friends learned A LOT about the party.
After the celebrations came to a close, Ignis also met with an unexpected guest; Stormy, who was waiting in their dorm room for them. The meeting could have gone worse, but could have gone better. She told Ignis that her unnamed benefactor wanted the Rat Pack to break into a building on campus and steal crates that had been stashed in a storage room. She asked for Ignis' help with stealing them, and told them that if they couldn't do it in a week, she would have to do it herself.
Over the weekend, Kyr went back to The Detention Bog to try to find those fey frogs again. Although he did not find any frogs, he did find a mysterious swirling portal leading to an underwater location of unknown significance. He also found some members of The Fysi Guild who were cleaning out the bog after the goop contaminated it.
After sharing the information about the crates with the rest of the party, Ignis and Kaida decided to scope out Dapplewing Manor to see if they could find any good way to sneak in and steal the crates. It quickly became clear that waltzing through the front door after hours would be a poor decision, but of course the place is crawling with staff throughout the day. Taking a different approach, the two tried climbing on the roof to see if they could get through a window of one of the faculty offices. While up there, they discovered the Professor Vernon Rachard was working quite late that night and overheard a conversation that they were clearly not meant to hear. Rachard was speaking on a sending stone to someone named Olivia and mentioned his concerns about the headmaster sending scholars to investigate the Evergreen Archives, which he said is being haunted by something that stopped him from entering himself.
Meanwhile, Tyr and Kyr decided to tail Dr. Maxwell Knight around campus. They caught him taking a sample from the Detention Bog and decided to follow him back into Kamari to his clinic. While there, they witnessed something unusual. A person, behaving very strangely, broke into the clinic by smashing a window, and went straight for the supply room at the back of the clinic where Dr. Knight had stored a vial of the goop. The strange person ate the vial of goop -- glass and all -- and then tried to flee. Tyr and Kyr took the man down. While examining the body, Kyr noticed a tattoo of a sun on his inner wrist. Dr. Knight asked for Tyr's help to haul the body into his incinerator and collected the goop into a new vial, unharmed.
He then shared that he had indeed stolen the missing Lenna Gilvaris' body from campus, but he hadn't been the one to kill her. He had been called to the infirmary to help her after an incident in the lab where she got contaminated by a dangerous substance she was working with, but by the time he arrived he was told that she had already passed and that the autopsy was to be preformed specifically by a doctor of House Glaros. Finding this suspicious, he snuck back into the school infirmary after hours and examined the body for himself, only to find a stab wound in the stomach. He stole the body then to perform an autopsy of his own, and discovered the black substance throughout Gilvaris' entire body, including her brain. He took a vial of the substance to study and incinerated her body to get rid of the contamination -- although he did not know at the time that the goop can withstand extreme temperatures. Dr. Knight agreed to speak with the party again at a later time to discuss this mystery further.
