Clan Maruk (Mighty) is the largest and oldest of the Ghaash'kala clans. They hold responsibility over the western labyrinth, but they also send warriors to the other clans when needed to help them weather major assaults from the Demon Wastes. The Maruk are compassionate, but they hold their duty above all else. They save those that can be saved, and those that cannot are expected to give their lives to Kalok Shash. Those that stumble upon a Maruk patrol within the Labyrinth are almost always offered a choice: the Maruk are willing to welcome them, heal their wounds, fill their bellies, but they cannot allow them to leave.
The Maruk occupy Maruk Dar - the First Fortress, the location where the Ghaash'kala were called by Kalok Shash. Engraved upon its walls are countless words written in Celestial, messages left behind by the Couatl, instructions. These messages revealed the locations of other hidden fortresses within the Labyrinth, and those groups that were sent to claim them became the other Ghaash'kala clans. The fortress is also located within an Irian manifest zone, which empowers the Ghaash'kala's divine magic and soothes their wounds.
All of the Ghaash'kala gather at Maruk Dar at least once a year, to share stories and intelligence, to ensure they are all informed of recent developments and that their shared culture stays alive. The Kizshmit of the Maruk is Torgaan Shashaarat, and the Sar'malaan is Lharc Suusha.
