The session opens up a day prior to the last sessions. A circus is in town, and Philomena Snapdragon infiltrated it, acting as a performer, in order to steal a scroll from a jester; which she succeeded at. On her way home however, she noticed a large trading vessel in the Silver Harbour, owned by a company called Five Breaths Ltd.... and immediately jumped at the chance. She found her way into an office, and after almost being spotted, she was able to cram everything on the desk into a bag and leave undetected. At home, she was able to inspect her spoils.
The next morning, she woke up to find the rest of the Agate Seekers currently in front of the quest board, and asks Sooty to identify one of her spoils; a shortsword, crackling with lightning. After some questioning from Dareth Lion'el Griffmane and Volk Lesnoy, Philomena confessed (with glee) that she stole those items, and where from. She then revealed some of the other things she stole... A slashed-through Emperor-Tier pin of the Liwilai Adventurer's Guild, given only to the strongest adventurers that frequently deal with the worst world-ending threats, as well as two letters, one from Nax Skyscale addressed to a person called Ione Plutarch, as well as an attempt at a response from said Ione. The rest of the party immediately felt a little nervous, as a former Emperor-Tier adventurer, even one that seemingly had a falling out, is quite a force to be reckoned with.
The identify-spell revealed that this was a Stirring Dragon's Wrath Weapon, created with the essence of a Blue Dragon; quite obviously Cumulonimbus Cobaltshine, as Nax's letter described the creation of items like this one for her companions. Dareth seemed quite a bit mad at Philomena for the stunt, but Philomena just said "it's their own fault, they left the windows open!". Volk meanwhile recalled that Five Breaths Ltd. was in quite a business rivalry with Limni Diluvi's Silver Heart Trading Company. Dareth decided to leave this subject alone for now, saying he'd talk to Philomena later, as the party chose a quest; a new quest by Horvyn Quickstamp, the Archaeologist, in a town called Lintin in the Archduchy of Oesterholm; a member-state of the Grenwal Confederate Empire. The quest Archaeology by Lintin / Timeless Terror was taken. But before the party left, Volk decided to have a talk with Limni, and with Philomena in tow, visited him in his estate at Arrasse-Park.
Before that, the party was stopped by Kilbi Leaftooth, who wished to report some information she gathered. First, the King of the Kingdom of Canei has supposedly grown ill, and the crown prince is rumored to be planning something nefarious once he takes the crown. Right now, he's changing up the military, which is suspicious. Additionally, using the Amulet of Thoughts, she was able to hear that a merchant saw something horrible at the Raja's Crown restaurant that he needs to forget about. Worth investigating, maybe? Also, Winter and Norben Holton have been doing good work the past few days, and they now live as live-in staff. Last but not least, the Adventurer's Guild awarded the party 300 Guild Credits for dealing with the monster that attacked during the beach day. With that over, Volk and Philomena were able to make their way to Limni, while Sooty, Dareth and Mikhail then decided to play with the Pseudogriffons.
Limni was alone, as his husband Talxenden Safras and his adopted daughter Ripi Safras-Diluvi were currently at the Argentis Graveyard, visiting the grave of Astrapi Safras, Ripi's mother. In a talk with tea and biscuits, Volk then revealed what he had learned about himself... How he's from before The Great Wasting, and how the Forest Garnet kept him alive. Limni was surprised by all of this and honestly a little baffled. Volk asked Limni if he knew how to fix this. Limni saidly did not, but he promised to him that he'd talk to his brother and his father, a high-ranking cleric of Rencal Kei-Rhai, for help and assistance. The two then said goodbye, and Volk and Philomena returned home.
At home, Volk found Dareth buried in Pseudogriffons... only to take him aside against his will to have a serious discussion with him. After this, the party left for Oesterholm. At the capital of Oesterholm, Veduna, Dareth was at first a bit distracted by the deserts that were on sale on many of the bakeries here, and he was able to get a nice and delicious Veduna Chocolate Cake, courtesy of Volk.
Over the next few days of travel, not much happened, until a pair of mated Chimeras attacked the party on the path between the mountains. Thankfully, the party was able to take both down, but took quite a bit of damage from their fire breaths. The party then arrived in Lintin, and first sought out a tavern for food; finding a halfling-run tavern, currently serving Potato-Bacon-Soup. While eating, Dareth had a serious conversation with Philomena. He was still mad at her for her little heist, but asked her to be careful and take someone with her to look over her next time, looking at Volk, who was a bit offended at this.
After lunch, the party moved on towards the Archaeological site, where they met Horvyn. Horvyn was happy to see them and informed them that LIB-813 - Libbie was doing well, and working in his personal library. He then told the party that this likely is another ruin of The Great Liwilai Empire, and most likely was another research facility; but he doesn't know what it was. Two members of his crew went inside to check and didn't return. He instead asked the party to retrieve them (or their bodies), and then find out more about the facility.
Upon entering the facility, though, the party found a corpse, in an archeological assistant's outfit, with a trail of blood coming from the door behind him.
SESSION END.
