City-state: Population 36,469 (46% Human, 27% Dragonborn, 11% Goliath, 16% Other)

Government: Military theocracy

Defense: Population is almost entirely conscripted to the Knights Duvonte. The population serves as its own guard force, and potential standing army. Their natural barriers from the mountains defend from large-scale incursions by sea, and the position of Duvonte demands land forces to approach through the eastern taiga to their mountain pass defenses. The biting cold and howling winds year round, especially in the winter, prove difficult to weather for any individual.

Commerce: Local trades are developed, but the population is largely cut off - virtually inaccessible by boat, and the south eastern region of their barony is mostly inhabited by hostile Frost Giants, so travel and are almost nonexistent.

Organizations: Beskem worship, Knights Duvonte

Northwestern peninsula of Montsevain, biting cold, mountainous northern region. The Knights Duvonte consider this land sacred of Beskem.

History

Duvonte

Duvonte was a Cabalum-era city, one of the few that survived in any meaningful way through the Cataclysm. It was established by followers of Beskem early in the recorded histories, as the Forest of Grace was widely considered the chosen land of the Grace Marshal. As such, his followers established the city-state of Duvonte in the mountainous saddle in the center of the region, splitting the region in two: the Forest of Grace to the west, Duvonte as a bulwark in the eastern pass, and the taiga to the east which connected to mainland Yldorin.

Duvonte was primarily challenged by groups of giants on the land masses now known as the Isles of Reus. They were hostile with the followers of the Grace Marshal, and threatened their very existence with their unpredictable turmoils - both with humanity and with one another. Beskem intervened, severing the land mass from the main continent and sending the land out to sea. The giants continued to war amongst each other, with different types of giants emerging and evolving in drastically different ways. To end that bloodshed, Beskem split that land again, forming the Isles of Reus. Duvonte, now able to defend themselves from only the eastern front, the faithful lived and grew in their relatively isolated city-state.

During the Cataclysm, Beskem devoted much of their power defending various populations around Al'tehrun, including Duvonte in particular. They suffered far less significant losses than most of the world, and survived the Cataclysm.

In the Gait Era, Duvonte had not seen significant growth or expansion, as they were terribly hindered by access to trade and travel. They did conduct great missionary expeditions across the oceans, spreading the faith of Beskem once again, and sought to rediscover and recover lost temples and artifacts of their patron.
