Leading the Blind 002

October 28, 2024

Between Session 074 and Session 075

Previous: Leading the Blind 001

Start: Start of combat in the simulacrum dungeon of Castle Darkstone, facing off with the evil created Ereus Sol'ahn and Godrick Grimbow, with more skittering heard above in the darkness (Draconians).

The Tremor Chasers (Bluebell, Ragnar Dravenson, and Euclid Lazuli with Zephyr) fought with the simulacrum of Ereus Sol'ahn. From the ceiling, simulacra of the Draconians splatted to the ground to also fight. In the hall, the revealed simulacrum of Godrick Grimbow shot into the room before Rorax Rorakksu joined the fight and battled him in the hallway. In addition, appearing from nowhere in particular, was Otto Ozzley and Above, who just sort of rolled up and started to help - Otto Ozzley dealing damage and Above healing (primarily Bluebell).

The fight progressed, Rorax Rorakksu killed the simulacrum of Godrick Grimbow, Ragnar Dravenson killed the simulacrum of Ereus Sol'ahn, and Bluebell and Euclid Lazuli wiped out the remaining Draconians (most effectively with the bats Euclid Lazuli summoned). When the dust settled, the group reconvened and met with their new allies. Above began to speak, and disappeared in a rainbow poof before they could say much.

Left in the amethyst crystal prison chamber, the Tremor Chasers secured the room, barricaded the only entrance, and began to free some of the figures trapped in the crystals. The real Godrick Grimbow, missing his left arm, was released and healed. In talking with him, he showed that he retained some muddled memories from his simulacrum, experiencing brief moments and scenes as if they were a fleeting dream. What he could solidly put together was that he was captured at some point during his scouting of Blind Claw, wanting to do some service for the Skallywag Squad before they arrived, and help them out prior to rejoining them.

Next, the real Lohka Wyroc was released. Despite his head wound and missing his left horn and part of the left side of his head, he sprang up and excitedly began to speak with the group. He was captured 15 years ago, when he made his expedition up to Blind Claw, and his simulacrum descended the mountain, thus inspiring the shift of the Scaled Corona guild into a cult for Morgo the Maleficent. Upon seeing the release of the next prisoner, he promptly got too excited and fainted.

Slow and methodical chipping away of the amethyst at the back center of the room eventually led to the release of the real Ereus Sol'ahn. He awoke slowly and pleasantly, kindly greeting his new friends. He slowly recollected recent events from his simulacrum's perspective - the attack on Sedesend, the Inverted Spire prison break, and his uncle Aulyx acting oddly and flying off on his own (after being Feebleminded). He seemed mildly concerned at his physical state - missing his left wing and his front left leg, translating to missing his left arm in his humanoid form. He invited the group to a collective meditation session, and they short rested.

Bluebell spoke with Otto Ozzley, who talked about his own experiences within Castle Darkstone as well as his captivity with Morgo the Maleficent. He talked about how he was tortured and kept for a year in Morgo's vault, resulting in his Aberrant Dragonmark eye. He also regaled them with his personal interactions with Migneus, who had freed him and led him on this path to justice to retake Castle Darkstone and the prevailing of the Skallywag Squad over this dragon. Bluebell's gathered that the portions about Migneus freeing Otto Ozzley were at least somewhat false.

The group ended their short rest in the bowels of Castle Darkstone.

End: Inside the amethyst crystal prison chamber in the basement level of Castle Darkstone - Bluebell, Ragnar Dravenson, Euclid Lazuli, Rorax Rorakksu, Otto Ozzley, Ereus Sol'ahn, Godrick Grimbow, and Lohka Wyroc.
