27 Ches 1471 (Day 2)

Night

• The Party finds a large chamber in the cave complex they were exploring with at least 6 goblins inside
• Persi successfully climbs into a cot and hides under a blanket
• Orthanc blindly rushes into the room, torch in hand, and says “I’d like to speak with you” 
• ’Rig’and Vala argue with each other in a tunnel leading to the chamber

Cragmaw Cave: Goblin Barracks Combat Encounter

• Persi wraps up a goblin in a blanket and fails to persuade the goblin leader, Yeemik, to cooperate with The Party
• Goblins were set afire in blankets, pin-cushioned by arrows, and split by axes 
• Yeemik calls for parlay, threatening to drop a badly-wounded Sildar Hallwinter down a 20 foot drop 
• He offers to let Sildar go if The Party stands down and to provide information to help them kill Klarg, the bugbear leader of the Cragmaw gang living in the cave complex 
• Parlay fails, Yeemik kicks Sildar over the ledge, dislocating Sildar ’s shoulder 
  • Vala heals him as he falls, stabilizing him and saving his life. 
• Yeemik tries to flee but is intercepted by Persi 
• Persi quickly dispatches Yeemik by splitting his head on a jagged rocking sticking out of the cave wall 

Cragmaw Cave: Saving and Meeting Sildar Hallwinter

• The Party frees Sildar from his bindings
• and Vala makes to further heal the injuries he sustained, but he slams his own shoulder back into socket with brutal efficiency
  • Vala is VERY impressed
• Sildar  mentions several things in their conversation
  • Gomlee Moonstagg was a “surprisingly learned man” and his death is “a loss to all the Realms” 
  • Someone named Black Spider had given orders to Klarg and the goblins to capture Sildar and Gundren Rockseeker

Main Quest Acquired >> Where's Gundren Rockseeker ?

• Gundren Rockseeker claims to have found The Lost Forge aka The Forge of Spells somewhere in the area around Phandalin, near Wave Echo Cave 
• Gundren Rockseeker had a map that he drew to get to Wave Echo Cave and Klarg sent both Gundren and the map to Black Spider 

Cragmaw Cave: Klarg’s Den Combat Encounter 

• The Party continues to explore Cragmaw Cave Hideout, looking for Klarg
• The Party is nearly washed away by a wall of water while crossing a bridge in the caves 
• The Party enters a large cave containing many boxes and crates marked with an emblem of a blue shield with a red lion superimposed over it 
• Persi and ’Rig’were ambushed by archers entering the room
• ’Rig’gets her ass eaten by Ripper, Klarg’s wolf 
• Klarg knocks Persi down with a brutal blow from his morningstar 
• Orthanc responds in a rage, planting his great axe in Klarg’s back 
• Persi is revived by Vala and promptly kicks Klarg in the head, breaking his neck 
• ’Rig’swiftly dispatches Ripper with a stab to the heart and the neck 
• Sildar stabs Klarg in the brainstem for good measure then relaxes on a crate
• Sildar mentions that the supplies likely belong to Lionshield Coster , whose supply train had been raided a little over a tenday ago 
• The Party takes a Long Rest overnight and gains 275 XP each for finishing the dungeon 
• Orthanc fails to make a tasty hot meal of roasted bugbear for The Party
• Vala plays a tune on her harp to give Persi 1 point of Heroic Inspiration 
• Persi succeeds on rest and relaxation doing meditative calisthenics and gains 1 point of Heroic Inspiration 
• ’Rig’fails to rest and relax

28 Ches 1471 (Day 3)

Morning

• The Party spends a half-day to load the goods for Lionshield Coster onto their wagon
• Vala finds Klarg’s treasure chest containing 2 potions and a jade figure of a frog with solid gold eyes
• The Party continues their travel by wagon, arriving in Phandalin late at night

Night

• The Party arrives at Phandalin and house Meilu for the evening.
• Sildar recommends staying at the Stonehill Inn overnight - stone-walled building with meticulously kept lodgings
• The Party arrives at the Stonehill Inn
• Toblen Stonehill: Strongheart halfling, owner and proprietor, provides The Party with food and lodging for 1 GP per day
• Persi tries to open his room with his trinket, a mysterious key
• The Party spends a Long Rest overnight

29 Ches 1471 (Day 4)

Morning

• Sildar Hallwinter meets The Party for breakfast at The Stonehill Inn

• Persi IMMEDIATELY snatches the egg from Sildar’s breakfast of Eggy Basket
  • Sildar  seems a bit surprised, a bit annoyed, but also amused

• Toblen Stonehill speaks with The Party while providing them breakfast, mentioning the following:
  • ’Rig’mentions that there was “something off” about her mattress (because she hid a gold tooth inside it
  • Toblen is very worried about an exact detail being off at his inn and vows to immediately check the mattress
  • Daran Edermath is an ex-adventurer who owns and operates Edermath Orchard on the edge of town
  • Sister Garaele Xil'oama runs The Shrine of Luck at the center of town, next to The Phandalin Town Green, where important town meetings are held
    • Knows divine magic
  • Tresendar Manor , at the top of a large hill on the east of town, has been taken over by a gang calling themselves "Redbrands”
    • The Redbrands wear dirty red cloaks and are extorting protection money from businesses in Phandalin
  • Sleeping Giant, an alehouse near Tresendar Manor, has also been taken over by The Redbrands
    • Toblen seems very nervous even mentioning the Redbrands and says that no one has had the nerve to stand up to them
  • Phandalin Miner's Exchange acts as the town’s bank and buys any ore mined in the area
  • Qelline Alderleaf runs Alderleaf Farm, the largest farm in the area
    • Qelline was one of the original settlers of Phandalin
    • Carp Alderleaf, Qelline Alderleaf’s son, was recently overhead saying that he knew “a secret” about Tresendar Manor, but Toblen Stonehill says he is an “excitable young boy, who is prone to telling fantastical stories”
    • Qelline is known to be a practicing alchemist and herbalist

Party goes to Lionshield Coster Warehouse

• Lionshield Coster Warehouse is a large warehouse in the center of Phandalin
• Lionshield Coster is a large trading company based in Yartar, an inland city over 100 miles to the east
  • The Coster trades finished goods to smaller villages and hamlets in exchange for raw materials
  • motto is “Efficiency in Business, Everywhere”
• The Party enters the warehouse office and meets Linene Graywind, the Coster’s representative in Phandalin
• Linene gives The Party 50 GP for recovering the company’s goods and mentions that she may have equipment and wares not available elsewhere in Phandalin
• Linene also mentions that orcs have been repeatedly raiding caravans along the eastern end of the Triboar Trail

Quest Lead>> Townmaster Harbin Wester has been looking for someone to rid the Trail of the orc menace

Party goes to Barthen’s Provisions

• Barthen's Provisions is a trading post/general store near the entrance of town, largely catering to miners
• Elmar Barthen is the owner and operator and provides The Party with the 10 GP they were promised by Gundren Rockseeker
  • He is very worried about the Rockseeker brothers as they must be low on supplies
• Elmar doesn’t trust Townmaster Harbin Wester to properly respond to the threat of The Redbrands
