Opulent Origins
To the child Aeleen, her upbringing was steeped in wonder. The Illzimmer estate at Amphail brimmed with rare flora and elusive creatures, said to be studied for the greater magical good. Fire, her element, became her tutor. Her parents praised her gift and readied her for their world.
But childhood illusions burn easily.
On her first family excursion beyond the manor walls, truth bloomed like a wound: her kin were no stewards of nature, but thieves of its sacred wonders—poachers and profiteers, despoilers of wild and magical life. In horror and rage, the young Aeleen unleashed a storm of fire. The inferno consumed the glade, the stolen lives, and any certainty she had ever known. Her own body bore the memory, scorched save for the upper face that watched it all unfold.
She fled into the wilderness, her noble name a curse on her tongue. The girl became a ghost of the woods, learning the Druidic arts not from books or tutors, but from listening—to root and rain, to beasts who knew better than to trust a human name. From that day forth, she wielded her magic not to dominate, but to protect. She became a fire that guarded instead of devoured.
Over eight long years, Aeleen roamed the Sword Coast, undoing the very horrors her family had once wrought—poaching poachers, saving what could be saved, and asking no thanks for it. Her road led her at last to Waterdeep, the City of Splendors, where she accepted a Q.U.E.S.T. at the behest of Aethelfrith Rein: aid a tiefling named Vanifer. The name would return.
Willow's Larch
Summoned again by Aethelfrith to Willow's Larch, Aeleen met three others drawn by the same call: Abielle Huntsilver, Amira Abalone, and Aelar Siannodel. Together they became The A-Team, and their tale began in earnest.
When a great storm struck the town and a mysterious well emerged at its heart, the group descended. Within the depths, each faced a personal trial. For Aeleen, it was fire once more—a forest ablaze, spectral creatures trapped within. Saving them meant saving herself. She did, and found Vanifer at the center.
But the reunion was short-lived. Each member had rescued another—Abby with Marlos Urnrayle, Amira with Finn Abalone, Aelar with Dara Kalinoth—and all bore strange histories. Then came the final door.
There, Aethelfrith battled a figure deemed Prisoner 108, their struggle centered on a machine of mysterious orbs. In the conflict, the A-Team prevailed, but each absorbed the power of an orb. When they emerged, they found Willow’s Larch razed to ruin—though few lives had been lost. And so, Aeleen Cryptanthus walked onward, leading survivors toward Amphail, where her and the A-Team's story could now truly began.
Airy Issues
Upon arriving in Amphail, the squad encountered the deep inequalities present in the city. The class division between the rich and poor seemed as it was about to bubble over. But before the squad and Aethelfrith Rein, now calling themselves The A-Team, spoke candidly at the local tavern revealing hidden scars, both physical and metaphorical. The A-Team divided up meeting with the poorer citizens who were most unhappy, who now included Vanifer and a strange Dara Kalinoth, and the rich side of town which included Marlos Urnrayle and Aeleen's mother Vivian Ilzimmer. Its here where the the team uncovered the presence of elemental cults affecting the town like a fire elemental burning crops and a water elemental healing people. Thus with newly acquired transportation, Unknown, the A-Team set off to Feathergale Spire.
Upon arriving in Feathergale, the A-Team met with Dara Kalinoth who had somehow arrived before them and Unknown, the second in command. The A-Team explore the tower with Aeleen and Abbey using wildshape and some costume pieces to win an Avariel costume contest. This day is finished off with an attack by a Chimera in the surrounding area which the A-Team swiftly dispatch of on griffons before ending their day. In the night, Aelar meets with Thurl who confesses the truth of his mysterious boss and secret wrongdoings of the Spire. Aelar is able to convince Thurl there is redemption and the next day the A-Team, now recruiting an remorseful Thurl into their plans to beat the elemental cults.
Flaming Convergences
Upon returning to Amphail, Aethelfrith and Aelor met The Flame, Unknown, for the first time in the midst of him burning the wheat fields of Amphail's nobles. Simultaneously, Amira, Abbey, and Aeleen go to Illzimmer manor to meet with Vivian and the rest of the city council to warn them of the elemental cults. After the meeting and a tragic reunion between Aeleen and Vivian, Aeleen leaves the manor gliding over to where Aelor and Aethelfrith were. There she finds that the two had gone into a burning barn where they discovered a dead body and poaching equipment. Aethelfrith is badly hurt and unable to be heal via magic, so Aeleen and Aelor recruit a local vet to help her laceration and smoke inhalation. Aelor and Aethelfrith's interaction with the Flame and news of a giant burning structure ignite the A-Team to set off to deal with the Cult of the Eternal Flame.
The A-Team arrive at Unknown to see a giant burning wicker statue surrounded by campfires. Here they meet with Vanifer as she and the A-Team move from campfire to campfire. They deal the a duo of werewolves, save a girl named Gayrina, and Aeleen met with The Flame for herself. Their conversation has the Flame promising Aeleen a dagger, Unknown, if she allows it to fulfill its purpose. Upon actually reaching the wicker statue and neighboring building Aeleen is brought to see the leader of the cult, Elizar Dryflagon. The rest of the party is left to explore the building while Vanifer sneaks off. Elazar threatens Aeleen before giving her and the rest of the A-Team a headstart before he starts to burn down the entire building. This sparks a multi-floor battle as the wicker statue and building begin to burn to ash. Vanifer reappears and Aeleen is able to identify her new weapon to be Tinderstrike. Just as Elazar and the rest of the cult corner in on the A-Team they hide away in the temple beneath the building where Elazar leaves them be and retreats with the rest of the cult.
