Orion Crowns
Orion Crowns are a currency being issued by the Orion Guild to its members. Sensing the importance of keeping its members well-equipped, and appropriately rewarding them for services rendered, these new coins measure prestige and service within the guild.
Orion Crowns can be exchanged for goods and services from the guild. As Orion Guild members are primarily adventurers, their most common use is purchasing magic items.
While Orion Crowns have an in-character justification and lore, you cannot buy, sell, or trade Orion Crowns with other players or characters.
How to Earn Orion Crowns
You can earn Orion Crowns by participating in quests, writing session summaries and the Downtime option Volunteering in the Guildhall.
Completing Quests
If a magic item is dropped during the full quest you were on and someone picks up that item, you may earn Orion Crowns if you yourself did not gain an item. The amount of Orion Crowns earned depends on the item rarity dropped and your level:
|
Magic Item Rarity Dropped |
Amount of Crowns if Min Level is Met |
Minimum Level |
|

3 |
|

5 |
|
Rare |

11 |

16 |

17 |
If a magic item is dropped and the current level of the character that went on the quest does not meet the requirement, you may earn Orion Crowns equal to your level.
No Orion Crowns are awarded for PUGs. Magic items bought at the beginning of the quest do not count as dropped items.
Why are Orion Crowns only awarded when an item is dropped and picked up? The goal is for questing to be the main way to gain magic items, not Orion Crowns.
Volunteering in the Guildhall
A new downtime option is available for characters who aren't able to participate in quests as often. Volunteering at the Orion Guild hall awards its members who mentor newer adventurers, perform administrative work, and otherwise help day-to-day operations and relations.
You can Volunteer a number of times per month up to a maximum of 4 times, in direct relation to the number of quests a character has been on - the more quests, the fewer times you can Volunteer. This is a 1:1 relationship. So if you participate in 0 quests during a given month, at the end of that month you can volunteer up to 4 times (spending 4 weeks to do so). If you participate in 1 quest, you can volunteer up to 3 times, down to 0 times if you participate in 4 or more quests.
PUGs do not count against the number of times you can Volunteer, only full quests.
You can only volunteer for the previous month. For example, if it is October, you may only volunteer for September, and may not go back to previous months. Use your level at the end of the month you volunteered at to calculate how many Orion Crowns you gain.
| Level | Crowns Earned from Volunteering |
| 3 - 4 | 1 |
| 5 - 10 | 2 |
| 11 - 16 | 8 |
| 17 - 20 | 16 |
Starting Oct. 1, 2020 these are the new amounts you may earn from Volunteering:
| Level | Crowns Earned from Volunteering |
| 3 - 4 | 1 |
| 5 - 10 | 2 |
| 11 - 16 | 4 |
| 17 - 20 | 8 |
Make sure to track Volunteering in the Guildhall in #orion-crown-ledger AND #downtime-activities.
Session Summaries
After your quest, you may write a summary of the quest for Orion Crowns in #session-summaries. Only full quests (non-PUGs) count.
You gain one (1) crown per session summary, gaining a Max of four (4) crowns per month per character, though you may write as many summaries as you like. Please write your session summary within a reasonable amount of time after your quest.

How to Spend Orion Crowns
There are currently two ways to spend Orion Crowns, to obtain a duplicate item from a quest, or to purchase items from the Guild Shop.
Purchase a Duplicate Item
When an item drops on a quest that you participate in, you can spend Orion Crowns equal to the cost of that item to purchase a copy of it. The cost of a magic item is determined by its rarity:
| Raritiy | Cost in Orion Crowns |
| Uncommon | 2 |
| Rare | 8 |
| Very Rare | 32 |
You cannot duplicate a unique item. You cannot duplicate a legendary item. Costs are halved for consumable items, rounded down.
Duplication occurs after the quest, and does not count against Orion Crowns Earned on that quest.
Guild Shop
Items will be available for purchase in the Guild Shop. Check the Guild Shop to see their prices.
You cannot go into debt to buy items from the Guild Shop. The Guild Shop doesn’t work on credit!
Track Orion Crowns
Track all Orion Crown transactions in #orion-crown-ledger when you earn or spend Orion Crowns.
It's also suggested that you keep track of your Crowns on your character sheet in either your inventory list or one of the spare fields.
