Creating A Character
You may use either our stat rolling system, our custom point buy, or our custom standard array (16, 15, 14, 13, 11, 9) to decide your character’s stats. If you roll, you must keep your rolled stats.
Rolling Stats
1. Go to the #character-rolls discord channel
2. Ping a GM and wait for their confirmation.
3. Type !randchar and our bot will roll three arrays for you to choose from. React with “A”, “B”, or “C” to choose which array you want.
- You are allowed to rearrange your stats within the array as you see fit.
Point Buy
We have a buffed Point Buy system.
- 37 points to distribute
- Maximum Stat Value = 17
- Ex: 16 costs 12 points; 17 costs 15 points
- Minimum Stat Value = 6
- Ex: 7 costs - 1 points; 6 costs - 2 points
- Use a Point Buy calculator like Chicken-Dinner.com to help build your character's stats. Make sure to go to custom rules and change it to fit Orion Point Buy.
Building Your Character Sheet
1. Go to the #✅-roll20-server-links channel and choose a Orion Character Server to house your character sheets.
2. On the Roll20 server, type !charsheet to generate your personal sheet.
3. Instead of the above, you may use your own personal server, just be sure to use 5E Shaped sheets as your character sheet type and be able to set-up your own token, this includes having a subscription for dynamic lighting.
4. Build your character (assign stats, backstory, choose your starting job crystal [class], etc). You can find your starting wealth and items in the table below.
- Remember, your first character starts at level 3!
- Check out Orion Approved Material for homebrew choices
- Instead of rolling, you must take the average (rounded up) for your hit die.
D6 = 4 hp, D8 = 5 hp, D10 = 6 hp, D12 = 7 hp

Keeping Track of Your Character
1. Change your nickname on the discord server to include your character names!
- Ex: Ashrel [Kaiba | Smorc]
2. Make a token and add it to your sheet in Roll20 using Token Stamp 2.
3. Request for your token to be set up in the #roll20-token-updates channel.
5. Finally, go to the #character-tracker channel and copy the pinned template, adding your character information where appropriate.
You must update this information whenever your character goes on their first quest, gains experience or a new job crystal, retires, etc.
Starting Equipment and Gold
For starting magic items above common, you can pick from the Players Handbook (PHB), Dungeon's Masters Guide (DMG), Xanthar's Guide to Everything (XGtE), and All the Stars in the Sky (ATLAS) only. For common magic items, any approved content, except Wildemount and Aquisitions Inc. is allowed.
For magical armor as your starting item, you must have the base item before you can gain the magical version of it. For example, you cannot start with Plate Armor of Gleaming unless you buy the Plate Armor first.

Getting Quest Notifications
Typically, DMs will post a quest and then ping the appropriate tier roles for that quest. To get these notifications, all you need to do is the following:
1. Go to the #tier-roles channel.
2. React to the bot’s post (pictured below) with the appropriate reaction to the tier role you need.
3. If you no longer have a character in a certain tier, just click on the reaction for that tier again and the bot will remove the role for you.
Now you are ready to play! See Playing in Your First Game for more info on joining quests, exporting to your GM's server, and tracking info afterwards!
