The police car's siren echoes outside the building that Alexander uses as a hideout for the Band, and an Oni, Saburou. Two policemen knock the main door of the HQ and interrupt the Band. Alexander and Baltashar both speak to the cops and manage to fast talk them into believing nothing out of the ordinary has happened. After the scene, Alexander calls Tom Mohawk, better known as Tanny, to deal with the mess and avoid more cops. Tanny arrives with a van and his biker gang. He does his job to disappear with the bodies, and decide to help the Band in the investigation.

Balthasar with help from Alexander and Kanako craft a magic ritual to create a magical conection with Saburou and Vaenndr to find him. They succeed, but Balthasar became overcharged with magical energy, being easy to detect him with magic or any kind of supernatural sense. Tanny sent his biker gang to watch Vaenndr and discover if he will make some kind of move.

One day has passed, Baltashar, Alexander and Dexter went to the Washington Harold Public Library, where the book was stolen. They want to investigate more about the book, and look into the crime scene for clues. There they spoke with the library's owner, Ashley Alafousus, a Saint of Athena. She let the Band investigate and read anything they want, even in the private library of occult studies. She ask Alexander to recover the book for her, and to not let the book fall in the wrong hands, only to deliver to her. Then they search the place for clues, and learn that Rubens Cruz, was the responsible for the occult area, but was missing work for a week. The three thinks he has some answers or is involved somehow. They go to Rubens' apartment get some answers.

At the same time, Kanako and Tanny go to Nippontown gather more clues about the Yakuza and the possible involvement of William Tanaka. They spoke with the local leader of the gang, Mister Kim, and learned that he is not happy about William having affairs outside their traditions. Kanako says she will make him see it as a problem, convincing Mister Kim to give them William's address. Kanako goes where William lives. She discovers that his girlfriend is indeed Regina Cruz, and it has been a week she disappeared, and she also knows how to cast spells. He affirms he isn't involved in the stealing of the book. Kanako and Tanny see that he is telling the truth, but Kanako and William have a hot arguing about his choices against the Yakuza, he could burn himself and others near him. William get everyone to follow him and go to Regina's place to see if something has happened to her. As they were getting out, reaching their autos, a gang of cloaked men appears and start fighting them with close combat weapons, not speaking anything, simply trying to ambush them.

Alexander, Balthasar and Dexter go to Ruben's apartment, but the door is locked. Dexter, being a cat, goes outside and jumps inside the place because of a open window, he unlocks the door, because he is a intelligent and ingenious cat. The Band discovers that Rubens is laying down in a couch, having something like a fever. Alexander uses the scepter he stole from the sorceress in a previous conflict with the Ordo Aureum Aurora to discover if there is magic at play here. His intuition was correct, Rubens was cursed, and will die soon in a couple of days, having his life force sucked out of him slowly. Balthasar, that was watching the door, see some men armed with guns entering the hallway, they are not fooling around. The men open fire on Balthasar, and a conflict happens. They start fighting four of these invaders, and knock out one of them, but they lose the upper hand, Alexander being taken out of the scene. The men says they will kill Alexander if they try anything. Balthasar, and Dexter manage to get Alexander, and runaway from the building. The three men didn't pursued them. These men were different than before, they were all more powerful than a normal human, and more resilient, with red eyes.
