Jirawan
Description
Also known as "Jira" or "Jay."
Formerly a Jihui Sect shikarist, Jirawan is now a standoffish member and lower-chain leader of the Hellbenders. Her personality is defined by an abrasive edge. She does not hesitate to criticize or insult, and is more than willing to turn to skirmish when harsh words aren't enough. Less visible is her protective streak. Jirawan once worked as a shikarist, and uses those skills to protect others in danger.
Jira bears three prosthetic limbs: both legs and one arm, lending her augmented speed and strength. She fights unarmed, utilizing a dance-like hit-and-away fighting style paired with electrical shocks.
She is also the adoptive sister of Fakir ChaeYasda and Suesuke. She left the Jihui after Suesuke's deviation, returning to her old home of Límíng City
Abilities
- Prosthetic Limbs: Jirawan's prosthetics were developed by an unknown inventor. They grant her several of her abilities:
- Static Shock: Jirawan's prosthetics can channel electricity into a target
- Shifting Build: The prosthetics can either slim down or bulk up, providing a nimble and a strength-based build respectively
- Wall-climb: The soles of her prosthetic legs can adapt to skates, granting Jirawan increased speed and the ability to move up walls
- Bloodhunting: Jirawan holds a pact with a demon, granting her access to a blood rite and several curses.
Within the Campaign
The party first met Jay in Dock 5, apart of the underground smuggling in the Drains of Límíng City. Scouting in the rafters, she was able to spot them from their hiding spots and silently directed her companion, Florentine Raingard, through their confrontation. When Liutubang resisted, she dropped down from hiding to turn a confrontation into a fight.
This skirmish did not last. An alarm raised for members of Serpentine approaching. She directed the Hellbenders aboard a locomotive, refusing to allow the party to join them but pointing them to another vehicle. After this chase, she was initially willing to retract her hostility, agreeing to tag along for lunch with the party and Florentine. She did show up, and was willing to entertain them amid her colder exterior. However, when the conversation revealed their lethal confrontation with other Hellbenders, she grew frigid and angry, storming out on the spot.
The Devilfish
Jirawan was present during the devilfish's attack. She displayed unusual calm and competence as she organized evacuation and stared down the monster itself. When Liutubang was caught under deadly odds, she fell back to bloodhunting to her own despair, and witnessed Fakir's arrival and subsequent deviation. After this, Jirawan was unreachable for a time.
Facade Hunter
Following the events of the picket auction, Jirawan's first contact was to ask the party for aid while she was being pursued by a Facade Hunter. It had been pursuing her since shortly after the events of the Unknown. Liutubang had to expend a diamond to save her life from the severe damage she suffered.
Later, the party would inform her that they had witnessed Himesh consulting with demons, and confirmed that he had been the one to call upon a Facade Hunter to kill her.
History
Jirawan spent her childhood in Límíng City. Her circumstances were largely unknown, but at some point she encountered Suesuke. Initially, Jirawan intended to steal from them. Suesuke caught her, only to extend and invitation up to Jihui Sect. Jirawan would join him there and eventually join the sect as a bloodhunter. She made a pact with a cat demon, Koba, which is the root of her power.
Jirawan would later meet Fakir, where she became both a teacher and a sibling to him. After years of practicing in the sect, she and her siblings were accompanied by
Unknown to a job. Jirawan and Fakir were left in a village to wait and keep an eye while the stronger shikarists handled the job. They were taken by surprise when the village itself became the target and an
Unknown opened within the village. Jirawan tried to get Fakir to flee with her. He refused, insistent on trying to help, and Jirawan remained to try to protect him. In the end, both of them were caught in the Fissure's influence until Suesuke arrived alone and induced his first and final deviation.Jirawan's story conflict's with Fakir's. Although she lost consciousness shortly into the fight between Suesuke and Sol, she remains adamant that Sol was a good man and had acted only to protect them. When she and Fakir were returned to the Jihui sect, it was without Absolution or Suesuke. She and Fakir continued to argue over this event until Jirawan, disenchanted with her sect, left without a word.
She returned to Límíng, joined the Hellbenders, and has remained there since.
